Anyone ever hardwared a FM modulator for say .. iPod or other AUX input?
What exactly is needed.. as far as my limited research has taught me, this is what I know:
FM Modulator --
Put in line with the antenna (our stock stereos do not use a "normal" connector so need some adapters of course.) This then provides two RCA connectors to which you can connect an AUX audio signal. Now my question here lies in how is the FM Modulator powered? Do you merely just tap into the ACC wire for the head unit, and if so, should it be switched (I think it has to be for some reason.)
Then for an iPod (I need to do some research about the dock) I know I could use a mini-jack to dual RCA converter (RadioShack has them) to send the FM Modulator a signal, but I would like to hardwire a dock somewhere and fabricate a permanent place for it in my car.
Does anyone have any experience with this, when the iPod is on the dock what kind of output do you get from the dock?

And if I'm mistaken about anything.. please let me know!

Crutchfield sells an i-pod adapter to hook to ur factory stereo. Not 100% sure if they make it for our Max. They do have a lot of options for hooking up an iPod. i ordered my iPod interface for my Kenwood DDX7015 from them. It charges my battery and lets me control my iPod from my touchscreen, so i can hide my iPod.

I have an audiovox FM modulator. I got it for $25, plus the antenna adapters on ebay. Yeah, it does not sound as good as the AUXNISS, but the price is way cheaper.
Installation:
I wired 12V and ground in to the head unit's wiring, and yes, my unit does have a switch. The unit works by broadcasting a strong signal to your HU which can drown out other stations. When you turn it off, radio functions normally. Good luck!

I have a Kenwwod FM mod as part of my satellite radio setup. I mounted the main part of it under the center console. The heated seat wiring plug under there provides all the connections needed. Then I just run the wires forward to the HU and mounted the face for it below the headunit.
did you get it to work?
