i need a h/0 alternator

who makes for the maxima? i did the big 3 with 4 gauge, it helps a lot, but my lights still dim so im clipping and it sucks. i can get fairly loud without them dimming, but i sometimes just wanna crank the shiet outta mine. you know make the roof flex! thats what a spl oriented system's for, right? so u think i should do an alt upgrade, or just upgrade the 4 gauge to 0 gauge? thanks dudes. i know its a rook question.

Upgrade to 0 Gauge....you will have more flow...then if you still have that problem then you can go the other route.

If that doesn't work... some rebuild shops will upgrade your windings to a delta wound. I've only run across 3 that would... 2 in TN, and 1 in South Dakota.

Check out www.americanarmature.com They sell rewound OEM alternators. Built to fit on the car without modifaction. Might have to send your old alternator in not sure exactly how they operate. I just know they've been in business for awhile.

whats the maximum current draw for your system? 0 gauge might not even help. I have links at home (im @ work right now) for a h/o alt for the max somebody in florida makes one and charges around $400 it puts out 200 amps I believe.

OGA?
I'm running a mmats d200hc. no cap. pretty efficient,(90%) but draws like crazy when it is being pushed.
i'll try the 0 gauge first, then go from there..
400 bucks? geeze, i'll take my chances, and if i need it, then i gotta save! lol

I had that amp before...not anywhere near 90% efficient at it's limit. Great little amp, though. Try the 0ga, don't have it cranking at idle, and maybe turn the gain down a bit. I ran that amp off a stock 5th gen alt and I really only had a problem at idle...a HO alt won't help you with that.

i know a line driver is supposed to amplify voltage through rca's, so would having higher voltage rca's help with reducing dimming?
and sapp99, the big 3 is: upgrading the alternator's power and ground and the battery ground.

Nope just using a line driver only ampifies the input signal to the amp. The amp reads this new higher signal... and ups the power to the subs... it's like turning up the bass on your H/U... you're only increasing the signal for the bass.
