Front Corner Lights light up when I step on the brakes!

I noticed this week that when I press on the brake pedal my front clear corner lights light up as well! Any ideas where the wires may have crossed?
I did the fog light mod last summer and that went well. Opened up the relay box to see if any wiring was loose but it looks fine.

Hey cool new mod!

Oh you didn't mean for it to be that way? That's a tough one, anybody?

My Fuse #5 keeps blowing. Crud! Looks like I may have to restore the fog light connections back to the original setup.

I followed that fog light rewire write-up to a T and it worked fine. Remember, I did this last summer.

If you're blowing fuses you've obviously got a short, can you disconnect the fogs completely, then try a new fuse

Ok, I've disconnected the wiring from the fog light relay that splices into the corner light, soldered the connections and wrapped them in electrical tape. When I turned on the lights the clearance lights next to the headlights did not light as well as the corner lights in the taillights. I checked the 7.5A fuse and it blew again. Popped in another and it too blew. This time I put in a 10A and that worked.

Now that didn't clear up the problem with the clear corner lights lighting up with the stoplights when I pressed on the brakes. Also I didn't notice that my dash light around the speedo as well as the lights for the boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge and EGR gauge now lights up when I pressed on the brakes.

I turn the lights on by going to the first notch on the headlight stalk in lieu of the daytime running lights because of the heavy duty headlight harness. Since I'm not knowledgable when it comes to electrial stuff I'm guessing that the line may have gotten too hot and that it may have melted the insulation somewhere? Is this possible and has anyone else who's done this mod experienced this problem before?

I'm guessing you have meted a couple of wires together also and putting in a 10amp fuse will only allow more current causing more heat!!!! and quite possibly more damage! Time to take it to a pro!

id look at the wiring for the tail lights and brake switch... heck any thing in between. use a multi meter and test light to check the ciruits.

Wow! Is that what you did??? Please do the write-up for that mod and post it in the stickies section!

Well that fog light mod sure bites the big one now. That write-up should be stricken from the stickies.

I'm not familiar with a multimeter so it looks like I'll have to take it into the stealership, pull my pants down and bend over.

At this point, when I step on the brakes the door-open chime kicks in. Definitely a cross-short.
