Congrats, but a thread of the ypipe actually on your car would have been better.

yeah, no kidding. some people on here can get such attitudes. and we all LOVE our cars and we just think that people will want to enjoy it just as much as we do, but they are busy gawking over their own car. it's cool, just don't make it a habit of starting new threads for stuff like this. just throw it on another one, and you wan't get bashed.

i've already bashed too much in this thread, so i'll be nice. first, you should read what you can in the stickies, but it is a part of the exjaust system that connects the two headers into a single exhaust piping. kinda like a ' Y ' shape. the stock one is frickin ugly and very restricting. i read that it even goes down to about 1.25" in diameter from crapy bends. but an aftermarket y-pipe is 2.5", which greatly increases flow and therefore frees up some HP and the sound of the engine. there are a lot of posts around here. check out Budget/LSS exhaust and Warpspeed for more info. (Get budget if you do get one soon!) overall, many will agree it is the best bang for the buck on a MAXIMA!

You've got to be kidding me... read the FAQ'S or read half of the threads posted within the last 6 months. I really hope you aren't serious.

yeah, people have to look back a few pages before they post stuff right away. topics are just being repeated all the time. the reason old threads are saved is so other people can reference them and add to them, not just to blow off and write your own. the number one thing on here that pisses people off is when other people

Further to the newbie question, it helps to get more air into the y-pipe and exhaust as well. I'm not into noise, so I've only coupled my stainless steel Budget y-pipe with a K&N panel air filter, which breathes better than the OEM air filter. Others prefer cold-air intakes (CAI) or a popcharger, but I don't as I'm not into noise.

I don't think I'll be purchasing a Y-pipe until I can find one thats equal-length, for sound purposes.

What do you mean 'that is equal length'? Are you worried about fittment problems or something?

No, there are no fitment issues that I know of with the standard Y-pipes. Since the manifolds are equal lengthed, equal-length pipes help equalizes the pressure between both cylinder banks as well as cylinders that share a manifold and collector. The exhaust gas pulses are evenly spaced which smooths out the sound instead of getting that sharp tone that you get with most aftermarket Y-pipes.

no, he means for equal length headers. the rear header does a kinda smooth loop so that both headers travel equal length before they merge together on the y-pipe. this is ideal, although, they are harder to work with and not much room under there, although, i think Custom Maxima and Cattman have some? a normal y works also, but the best of the best is equal length. $$$!

I order my budget Y-Pipe on Mon or Tues. They told me they would call or email when they ship it. I still haven't heard from them. Is this uncommon?

........ on Monday or Tuesday of this week. They were like it will take one day to ship, one day to cross the border, and about four more days to come to Georgia. I am just dying to get it installed and goto a track for the first time.

Do you have a CAI or popcharger? I'm not into noise so all I have is a K&N panel air filter along with my stainless steel Budget y-pipe, and I can certainly notice the difference in power, particularly over 4,000 rpms.

Yes I have the CAI. I think I am going to call it quits on Performance Mods after this with the exception of Rear Sway Bar.
