input needed on buying an alarm....
so i've decided this weekends project is to get an alarm for my car, but i dont really know much about them, so sorry if i ask any stupid questions.
i want something that is a decent alarm, not necesarrily a name brand, just looking for quality. im thinking of spending somewhere between $150-200 maybe a little more. i think the 2-way alarms with the pagers are pretty sweet. i dont need remote start. also if someone can direct me to where a good place to purchase the alarm is. i also like the stock windows down function from the remote, am i going to loose this? will i still be able to pop my trunk from the remote?
i know this is a lot, but im just looking for some or any advice. thanks

Lokk into a Viper or Clifford. Both of which NEED to be sold and installed by a dealer for ANY warranty. They are not to be sold online or over the counter by any means.
A Responder/2-way would definately put you over your budget.
Windows can still roll down with an additional module. An additional relay is required.
The Viper 791 also has remote start, so you would be looking for the 690. At a Shop.
Trunk release can be used.

Ive always been a fan of clifford alarms, my last alarm was the concept 600g4 but it was pricy, 4 or 500..... but it was worth every penny...cept when i got too drunk to drive and my friend did not know how too work the blakjack feature
anyhow was not fun...but id look for clifford www.clifford.com they have all kinds of models from the pagers too standard alarms too ones u gotta enter a code everytime u take the car out of park(becomes second nature)...

isnt the 791 really expensive, and im guessing the 690 is cheaper, but still more than i want to spend. like i said i want to go somewhere around $200. i went and talked to the local shop and they said the best alarm they have for the money is TRC. they carry that brand and python. any thing i should know about that. they said i could get everything i want installed for $230. which sounds like a damn good deal
im searching still. mostly on directed.com, they seem to have a lot to offer

Make sure that price includes the trunk release. As I stated above an additional relay is required and alot of places are known to boost up the price saying "more parts" are needed.
yeah. the trc model they had me looking at is the zs-100, its on trc12volt.com. he said that python was pretty much the same, but trc is cheaper. i like the python 460. when i talked to the shop i told them i wanted the trunk pop and the widow relay so that was included in the estimate. so im wondering if anyone has had any experience with trc. my friend had trc on one of his cars and loved it. anyone else?
