I need to replace them since i cant replace my brake lines without damaging these fuel lines under the car.

Do I need to empty the tank or can I just relieve the fuel pressure by pulling the fuel pump fuse and cranking a few times?

Can the lines be replaced with generic fuel lines? do I need special tools? The job itself doesnt look that difficult, just long and I want to do it right.

Any tips/warnings/ticks would be appreciated.

 

Yeah you should be fine just releasing the pressure. But I wouldnt do the whole line if I didnt have to. Try your hardest to not damage the fuel lines and whatever does get damaged, I would just replace that section.

 

Just leave the car running and pull the fuse. However be aware that does not empty the lines, just removes the pressure, so there will still be fuel in them.

Are you talking about bending a whole new hard line? I've never looked but I think you can buy those from the dealer. I would go that route if at all possible, bending hard lines is not my idea of fun

 

I read somewhere that there is a rubber line we can use to replace the hardlines with... but I am not sure.

 

there is, but the rubber doesn't stand up to the elements very well, and I don't trust hose clamps.

 

i've always wanted to go to stainless steel brake lines.. but i have too many things i have to fix on my max that i don't really want to start dumping money into it
