How generous are you with your reputation points?

Is anyone else here generous with their reputation points? Everyday I give out the maximum reputation points to good posters, new innovative posters, etc.

What about you?

Unfortunatley, I haven't been keeping up with that but I should start. Can I get some points for being the first to post?

I would, but I already gave the maximum number I could today.

But someone could help me out in the meantime, for bringing this to everyone's attention...

Then why even bother having them? You're a mod, right? What's the point then if even you are mocking it? I give them out when a person DESERVES it, not just to beggards.

I don't like beggars either, however an occasional $uck-up isn't so bad.

It's really all about Integrity, Communication and Respect, regardless of how wrong you feel the Dumb $hit is…

I'm not the one writing for one am I? I have points from people that were thankful for my help. I don't ask like some in this thread. If you like it good. Why would it matter if I care or not? Funny how so many people get all worked up over a joke.... sarcasm... nevermind.

I don't think it's a joke, especially when it's quoted directly in the forums:

"Begging for reputation points by posting things like, "I only have xxxx" or "I need xxxx" is abusing the system. The result of begging could be points deducted from your total."

So how do these points work? Is there a sticky on it? I always wondered what that little symbol at the bottom of each post was for...

I checked my user CP, and looked up my profile by clicking on my name on a post...I dont see anything about reputation anywhere...

hence my sarcasm (let's sell them on ebay) if people are going to ask for them. Wow it's amazing how people misunderstand and get offended so easily.
I guess I'll never comprehend how some take the Internet so seriously. If some are so hung up on their rep on here there must be some underlying issues. I have nothing against this system. But I surely won't lose sleep over it either. I help a lot of people and some thank me, others don't. Do I care, no. Do I need feedback to know they appreciate my help? No. Maybe it's just me, but I enjoying meeting members in person at meets and getting along. Should I hurry home to give feedback to someone that gave me ideas or compliments????? but if you take this Internet rating so seriously, well that's nice i suppose.

and if you don't think my ebay commet was a joke, that this is so important for member to pay $$ for a rating, well..... I feel for you.

btw, there is a sticky on how it works. there's a forum on here about the forum (probably where this thread should be) http://forums.maxima.org/forumdispla...ysprune=-1&f=3

Nismo... take it easy, guy.

It isn't taking the Internet so much as it is that people want to be taken seriously, on the Org here for example. You see, we live by a code of rules... mod rules, for example, not to insult or degrade, or double post, or beg for points, etc.

I don't remember anyone saying that they were 'offended' (so easily) by your comments... rather, just returning a friendly comment to your comment. I truthfully feel that anyone stupid enough to try to "sell" points on EBay would be quickly found, advertised, and shut down by mods.

That said, some people are trying to joke about "hook me up" or "give me and I'll give you back". Hey, our rep keeps us active in the Org, like peer evaluations. You get too many negatives, your a$$ is gone, right?

Rep points is just another waste of space for the org. It's like getting stickers when you're homework is done.

IMO...

alright, cool. so we agree to a point. just trying to point out asking for points is "pointless". I was why you were arguing with me while agreeing with me. but i still could care less about my rating. if you like it great, i'm happy. seriously.
oh, and i suppose you didn't realize i am a Mod, so you don't really need to explain to me about how it works around here.

Q feels like I do. At work I give some students stickers and I made their day.
Others can care less, they're meaningless to them.
But if I remember I suppose I'll give some points to those contribting. As far as docking points? Naw, I'll just ban

I know how you feel, man. I give out Army Achievement and Commendation Medals and suggest Battalion coins and such... some guys love them, some guys continue to be 'challenging' and only motivated by the opposite of work and performance. Go figure.

Maybe it's just me, but on the board I frequent (mx6.com) it seems people give out reputation/karma just for making them laugh. Maybe I'm stingy. Oh I think that trade reputation is a vBulletin hack that needs to be rehacked every vB update, so it's a pain in the *** for who ever maintains the site.
