gimme your input guys. I'm looking to buy something soon and rather not spend a ton of money if I don't have to. the goal is something around 150-200w into 2 channels at 4 ohm, or 300-400 into one at 2 ohm.

If you liked my amp check this one out. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-us0Qzd7...0&I=500MRDM301
This is very similar to the one I have (I have the m-501), and it will give you 350x1 at 2 ohms. The subsonic filter on this is also much nicer than the ones on the alpines that just came out, which is nice if you do decide to go ported.

400x1 at 2ohms should be enough

damn, that was fast. I like the fact that it comes with a remote bass **** (that needs to be purchased seperately on the alpine I posted). I'll have to check it out at the next meet. BTW, what frequency do you plan on tuning the ports to?

hmmm, in that case you can't go wrong with going with whatever port measurements JL recomends.

Nice, The subsonic filter on that amp is preset to 30hz so that will work out very well. That's gonna sound nice.

I could easily be wrong, but 30Hz sounds pretty high for the subsonic filter. I don't think it needs to be set that high. Definitely don't take my word for it, I'd hate for you to damage your subs based on my word, it just sounds a little odd to me.

The thing is that on this particular amp it is either on or off and it has one setting which is fixed at 30hz.

my amp has the same thing...its set at 30hz or its off. my box is tuned to 35 because of this. you should have excellent results with the setup.
