13.680@104.54 MPH N/A Street tires
Well I went back to the track and did muuuuuuuch better than last night (14.44@102), as seen in the other thread.
Setup:
3.5 swap
Cattman headers & 2.5" Catback
CAI
No AC/PS
Yokohamas 215/60/R15 set at 25 psi front, 40 psi rear.
The only difference with yesturday is that I zip tied the front springs and block the rear springs. I don't think it helped though, since I lost half of the rubber studs early on and pulled my best 60 foot without them on the passenger side, only driver side.
I was up against a Mach 1 Mustang on slicks on that run:
Reaction: .021 (mustang) .167 (me)
60 foot: 1.787 (mustang) 2.137 (me)
1/8th: 8.250 (mustang) 8.885 (me)
1/4th: 12.979 (mustang) 13.680 (me)
MPH: 104.791 (mustang) 104.544 (me)
VERY happy with those times. I stopped at Home Depot to buy some 175 lbs tensile zip ties (24 inches) and wrapped 8-9 around each of the front springs. I put two "E-shaped" rubber studs on each rear spring and zip tied them tight but lost half of them anyway.
My first run was a 14.75 at 97 mph (missed a shift) with a crappy 2.40 60 foot and again wheelhop.
Second run improved much. 14.223 at 103.459 mph. I knew the car had more in it since the 60 foot was a 2.31.I f*cked up my third run (wheel hop, missed shift).
4th run I cut a small redlight (-.005) and ran 14.06 at 102.072 with a 2.32. At this point I was still getting wheel hop. Wheel hop on the 5th run as well (14.41@102).
Somehow, starting with my 6th run I completely got rid of the wheelhop. Finally I broke 13s. Timeslip`:
Reaction: .006 (Best ever for me)
60 foot: 2.165
1/8th: 9.013
E.T.: 13.875@101.535
Because of the low trap speed I knew it had more in it.
Next run I was up against an old School Malibu (late 60s or early 70s) with weld mags and some sort of Street Radials. Really loud, too. It looked ALOT like a Nova. I thought I was completely f*cked but I actually kept up with him.
Reaction: .331 (Malibu) -.095 (me, Redlight)
60 foot: 2.030 (RWD owns us) 2.310 (me)
1/8th: 8.933 (Malibu) 9.160 (me)
E.T: 14.014 (Malibu) 14.020 (me)
MPH: 96.514 mph 103.202 (me)
They were letting the street class cars run almost all the time so I got like 12 time trials total, in case you're wondering.
Again I ran a 13:
60 foot: 2.201
1/8th: 9.068
E.T.: 13.925@102.952
I really began to get the feel of the car and from then on only cut 2.25's or better.
Following that I did a 14.06@102.211 (2.25 60'), 13.889@103.679 and then the 13.68 run (Best of the day).
From then on I only ran 13's and was beginning to get consistant. The air and traction was good around that time (12:00 to 2:00 PM) so I got my highest traps there. 13.809@104.221 mph, 13.931@102.572, 13.853@104.088, 13.783@102.084 and the final run was a 13.858@102.637.
Towards the end I was only pulling 2.1 60 foots. I pulled one 2.17two 2.16's, two 2.15's, one 2.13 and my best ever, 2.12.
Finally the eliminations started. I dialed in a 13.80 since it was pretty consistant around that. First run I was up against a 1700 lbs Race CRX on slicks dialed in at 13.50. Timeslip:
Reaction: .166 (me) .202 (CRX)
60 Foot: 2.177 (me) 1.938 (CRX)
1/8th: 9.060 (me) 8.641(CRX)
E.T. 13.923 (me) 13.545 (CRX)
MPH: 95.781 and 101.720
I was so focused on looking if the CRX was gonna pass me that I hit the rev limiter and forgot to shift, that is why the mph is low.
The buy back was only 5 bucks so I got it. They also told me to get a helmet when I dialed in my 13.80.
Second round of bracket eliminations I pulled my best 60 foot ever:
60 Foot: 2.127
1/8th: 8.893
E.T.: 13.950
MPH: 85.447
I eased off and slammed on the brakes because I was too far ahead of my opponent, but I still managed to pull a 13.95 at only 85 mph. I won.
Third round I missed a shift and ended up running 15.76. Lost, of course, but the turbo'ed civic next to me (dialed at 12.45) also had problems so it was REALLY close.
I got a few good reaction times, too (but lots of red lights): .081, .055, .041, .026 and .006 (best).
Quite a few people scratching their heads and even the Mustang guy told me he was really surprised.
I am really happy with my times and I did enough 13 second runs and 2.1 60 foots to prove it was NOT a fluke. I am not going back until I get the OBDI conversion done and I hope to get 105+ trap speeds.

Buy the new 02 sensor and sleep well at night. I bought three new O2's when I swapped.
Neal: I'm not going back to the track before I get it tuned. I'd like to pull consistant mid 13's on street tires before getting the slicks. Towards the end the car would run consistant low 13.8's and high 13.7's if I didn't ease off. I think my 60 foots are good enough but I'm not shifting fast enough.

Yeah, it came from a 2002 Altima with 33k miles on it. Stock 2k2 intake manifold. The top end is surprisingly strong considering it has the stock IM. The mach 1 stopped pulling on me after the 1/8 mile mark.

Nope. I was launching off the 1500 rpm idle. Didn't even touch the gas pedal until I floored it. I'm hoping to pull a 2.0 on the street tires next time if it is as sticky as it was Sunday.

What was your weigh in? if not guesstimate...
What clutch and plate are you using? and how did it feel?
What were you doing to avoid the dreaded wheel hop?

I could have shifted maybe a bit faster (I really need to switch to a synthetic oil of sorts, the shifter isn't as fluid as it should be), but considering it was my first weekend at that track, and the first time with the 3.5, I don't think I could have done much better.
The track was sticky. The weather was perhaps a bit too hot/humid (80 degrees at least), and I don't think I let it cool enough between the runs. I only pop the hood open. I am considering doing Jime's manual fan switch mod for the track.
My CAI filter was getting dirty since I have not put my plastic inner fenders back on yet, so it was exposed to the elements.
I don't think I could have pulled a 13.5. Other than the 13.6 my second was a high 13.7 and another run I eased off was almost identical to the 13.6 run, so it was pretty much as fast as it's going to go untuned.

I know what you and Krismax are thinking right now... "if he can pull a 13.6 at 2850, wait till I get mine on the track
"
Don't expect a 13.4 or 13.3 on street tires first time out just because your cars are lighter. Doesn't always work that way. Better to aim low and not be disappointed.

Do some running, fat@ss
J/K
How come your car is so heavy? Stock 4th gens weight anywhere from 2900 (stripped GXE) to 3100 (GLE boat). Mine was around 3000 flat stock. What you got in there? Huge subs? Dead bodies?

Nah I don't want to jinx myself but I honostly feel 13's off the back no higher, If I run 14's then there's something seriously wrong I hope...
Like you seriously improved from high 14's to mid 13's that's a whole second off.. You had bad wheelhop fixed it and your not even tuned, god knows how much more you got in that motor. I honostly think when you get that thing tuned right get an SAFC-II and your running low 13's easily slicks 13 flat maybe even break in the 12's
That's NA people NA All Naturally Aspirated
Now slap a FI on that or spray that sucker 11's easy.

I want to see how fast it can go N/A. Seeing people look at the stock motor and the CAI and wondering what the f*ck is up with the 104 mph trap speeds is priceless. I wouldn't get the same feeling if I was spraying.

Right now I am too much of a big pu$$y to try slicks so I will keep working on the street tire setup and see what it gives.
I believe the All Motor Street Tire record for a maxima is SR20DEN's 13.50@106 mph run.

Got me wrong. I WILL get slicks, just not now. DR's aren't worth it. I would pull, what, 2.0's instead of 2.1's? Not worth it. I'm going to try and get 2.0 on the street tires instead. I think it's possible. When I decide I am ready for 1.8's I will buy slicks and mount them on two sawblades so the car still looks absolutely stock.
