there are several out there, im wondering which to chose. theres dynamat, fatman, and a couple others, which should i go with, and how much should i buy?

Not really one for posting personal opinions, but I used Rockford Fosgate Dead Skin in all four doors and getting ready to do the rear deck next. What a difference it made in the doors alone. As far as weight, don't f'n care. It's dense, it works, only used 10sq.ft so far & I'll use it in my next car.

dynamat extreme for sure i did my whole car with it and it is totally quiet. road noise is not a problem anymore and my trunk and rear deck do not rattle anymore. Im sure those other brands are good but why go for good when you can get "THE BEST". sorry if i sound like a commercial but dynamat is great stuff.

Dude, I am so f*cking disgusted with the frequency with which DYNAMAT EXTREME pops up on here.

Going off the basis that everyone whom mentioned DE actually has it installed on their car, we obviously have a bunch of rich, closet-audiophiles in this forum.

Let's do the math, shall we?

Dynamat Extreme costs about $1 per 10 squared inches.

Let's rate the average dampening job for a car at a VERY conservative 80sqft.

12in x 12in = 144 squared inches = $14.4 for one square foot.

$14.4 x 80sqft = $1152.

THAT OVER ONE-THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR DEADENING.

MOST OF THE ALLEGDED PERSONS WHOM PERFORMED THIS MOD HAVE AUDIO SYSTEMS OF EQUAL OR LESSER VALUE.

You're full of crap. Depending on the condition of your car and the math in my previous post, your deadening may very well exceed the KBB value of your car.

I like raamat....www.raamaudio.com . He carries his raamat which is a nice and thick and heavy mass loader that sticks easily and will stay put in heat (like dy namat extreme, fatmat.........He also carries and sells ensolite which is more of an acoustical absorber. A few layers or raamat and a layer of ensolite on top of it and you're good to go!

 

Whats wrong with dynamat? Im just telling my experience with it. Im not saying the other brands are not good, cause I have not used them, and I will tell you this, dynamat xtreme is expensive as hell so if your on the broke side of this ****ed up economy then the other brands will probably be more cost effective. Just chill "metal maxima", the world is not going to end cause people recommend dynamat.

 

To each his own, if you use something that works for you, it's hard to get away from it unless it really disappoints you, hence alot of people use dynamat plus it's easily found in most car audio stores. In my opinion they are similar in make and material, there is even a factory that makes the same material for 2 different companies, they just change the stamping on the rolls. I got 60 sq feet of B-Quiet deadner and used that in my car. I paid about $70 shipped for it a couple years ago. It does what it's supposed to do and holds up pretty well in high heat, not perfect though.

 

He asked for the best not the most cost effective and no I heard of a majority of brands. I have used it unfortunately it worked on my old car and did its thing I only could afford one little sheet of it. I opened the box and was like what the hell? If this is what I get for $30 there must be gold in it. It did work very well and had no sent and has cool logos on it. Dynamat extreme sticks much better than edead and peel n seal and it has better thermal properties.

Right now on the max I'm using edead v1 I put down about 60 sq ft of it and I'm not totally satisfied yet. I might need another 60 sq ft, but this stuff really stinks. I think peel n seal is just as good except without the smell and can be picked up at your local lowes.

 

Metal Maxima, you need a drink. The next round is on me. I def wish people would look through the pages. I think I have seen two threads about this within the past month, maybe five. I can't remember. Dead horses don't die on the .org.

 

When Dynamat Xtreme starts costing $1152 for 80sq. ft. I'll stop using it. Until then I have been pleased with it, and yes I have used other brands. Second Skin and Cascade do what they're supposed to do, just like Dynamat does. I get Dynamat Xtreme at cost so why go with something different. This thread would b just as opinionated as a "what wire should I use?", but I guess everyone would say that Stinger HPM is to expensive. There r a lot of good deadeners out there, just use what is availible and in your price range. The only complaint I have ever heard about Dynamat is the cost, and the fact that its over-advertised.

 

I just finished dampening my whole car with Ultimate & Vcomp from B-Quiet. It works great. I can't compare it to the dyanamat but they do on the b-quiet web-site. They even sell dynamat. You can check it out at www.b-quiet.com

It cost me about $600US including shipping for two layers of Ultimate on the floor, doors & trunk. Plus a layer of Vcomp on the floor. Took me all day Saturday and most of Sunday to do it from start to finish. B-quiet also sells product on ebay.

I have to agree with Metal maxima on this one. I can't justify going to dynamat. Even what I did was extreme. It is trully unbelievable how much dampening material you need to do a whole car. I bought extra, just in case. and used it all up.

haha, i also agree that dynamat is over advertised, but like 96MaxGLE said, i get it for dirt cheap...i have less than $100 in 2 bulk packs of Dynamat Extreme, so you cant go wrong there...just s tupid question, anyone else have any issues with a rattle coming from the center dash vent/hazard/clock? mine drives me crazy...about to start cutting!
