Stock FPR and AFPR

So I need to get an AFPR for a few different reasons. When I install it I will also be able to get rid of my vortech FMU since I am switching to a JWT ECU ROM tune w/ 550cc injectors. I was thinking that since I already have the SS lines taped into the fuel return line for the FMU, might as well just use those for the AFPR, probably the SARD unit. Can I just leave the stock FPR in place and use the AFPR after it. I don't see why not, just like the Cartech FMU can adjust base fuel pressure with the stock FPR in place.

Wil the rising rates of using both the stock and adjustable FPR cause problems?

I will only use the AFPR to turn down the fuel pressure (walbro).

Any problem in doing this?

Just thought it would be easier to not have to mess with taking off the stocker and retaping into the fuel line and removing where I am already tapped into with the FMU.

If you were raising FP then yes you could in theory leave the stock FPR in place. Since you are trying to lower it then you need to hollow out or remove the stock FPR. Putting an aftermarket FPR after the stock one will negate even having one unless the aFPR is set to a higher pressure.

I had to use this for my 00vi swap, you can use it for your new AFPR.

That is what I was kinda thinking, but then I thought of the cartech FMU and how it can adjust base fuel pressure and I have never ever heard the stock FPR had to be removed to use it.

yhea, I know about those and would use that off fitting if I did indeed need to remove the stock FPR.

i dont see how you would be able to lower fp with the oem fpr in its stock location. you would be able to raise fp, but you need to drill it out to lower it. mike-do you really think that you need an afpr with the jwt ecu? i would love to have that ROM tune, but i'm still undecided. they do have a 370cc program dont they.... hmmm

Having an AFPR will allow me to do a little AF tuining w/o using the SAFC too much. I assume the JWT tune is gonna be on the rich side. I could then use the AFPR to drop base fuel pressure, thus droping 0 vacuum pressure and bring my entire AF ratio up a bit. Then fine tune with my SAFC from there. I would also just like to have my base fuel pressure where it is supposed to be.
