Does anyone know how to replace the front sway bar end links and bushings? I tried to look under there but i cant figure out where to start. Please help!! Thanks

 

hmm, bump for a good question.

 

its pretty self explanatory once you look at it. theres only like 3 nuts to remove on each side, 1 on the endlink and 2 for the sway bar. take those off, lift the sway bar up and put in the new bushings

 

Yeah, super easy. First step is obvious but it may help you anyway: jack up front end and set on two jack stands, and then remove the front wheels. Don't forget to loosen the wheel lug nuts a bit while the car is still on the ground.

 

On a related subject, is there anyone who sells a complete polyurethane bushing kit for the 4th gen? I know energy suspension sells an fsb bracket bushing, but I'd really prefer to go in one fell swoop and wipe out all the suspension bushings since they should all be nearly shot (200K and still kickin'). Any suggestions much appreciated.

 

do i have to get completely under the car to do this? I kinda dont like the feeling of being under a 2k lb car!!! i have ramps, would that help or would i definitely need to take the wheels off?

 

Nope, you don't have to get under the car at all. Everything is easily accesible from the wheel wells.

You might be able to do it with the wheels on, but I don't think you could do it with the car on ramps, since you'd need to turn the wheels all the way to each side to access the sway bar. But you can buy a pair of 2-ton jack stands at Sears for $14.99.

 

yeah just put the car on jack stands and it will stay up.

Besides, my buddy had his car roll off of his ramps back onto, had to have his mother come out and jack the car up.


And his car was a 300zx 4" off of the ground ...

If you can contact someone in your area (check the regional forums toward the bottom of the main forum page) who has experience modding and working on Maximas, it will speed things up and you'll learn a lot in the process. Plus you'll be more comfortable and make a new friend.

These bushings are easy to access and replace, anyone can do it, but it helps immensely to have some experience working under your car. Otherwise you're going to be unsure about everything and that sucks. Have fun.

do the end links wear out? i changed my control arm yesterday, unfortunately id idnt order any of the end links or the swaybar bushings. how can you tell if the links are worn?

 

This is what I did I push down on the car has it slowly came up you can hear a creeking sound then I turn the wheel to see it while my brother pushed the car down and you can see the lower bushing that is connected to the Control arm has play in it and the bushing looks worn and has cracks that means they got to be replaced. I just bought the parts from NAPA and replaced them in 35min for each side. No more creek for sure now. Here I posted the directions on my cardomainREPLACING LINKS

THERE IS ONLY TWO BOLTS WELL FOUR BUT I DIDN'T NEED TO CHANGE THE THE ONE ON THE SWAY BAR

 

I got all the motor mounts and bushings from Cattman for $200 or so. Motor mounts are a must have! Now my motor stays still when I rev it.
