figured out why the oil pressure light came on
figured out why the oil pressure light came on
a few months back i made a post about my "bad oil change" at the goodyear service station that cause my dummy light to come on.
well after a new oil change at lake nissan, 3000 miles after the original "bad oil change" i found the sending unit wire was pinched under the oil filter.
the insulator had completly melted and the wire was almost fused. well,
everytime i would go over a bump... light would come on.
it seems like the shop was in a hurry and pinched the wire under the filter.
i did take the car back after the light came on the first time, filter was not seated right. the shop replaced the filter and didnt notice the wire was under the filter and melted. after this the wire was not grounding for what ever reason and the light remained off until recently...
so after lake nissan changed the oil... 3 days later, while cornering i noticed the light flickered on. then it would go off, and come back on at random times.
finally i got behind the motor and started shaking wires, had my pops check the light while i shook them, finally found it!
it was melted so bad i was able to pull it right off! its a wonder my car didnt catch fire with a wire grounding out in this manor.
i am very glad this was the problem, not an oil pump or worse.
i will post some pics once i splice the wire back up. for now its all taped up to prevent a fire.

i think i will only pay nissan to change my oil from now on.
best part, you get a genuine nissan filter and it cost about 3$ less than the shop that screwed me over. not to mention all the brochures i snag for new nissans while i wait.

No fire hazard in that skinny wire: grounding to that lamp.
The bro chures are dangeros: if thin wallet, never slobber on them, use paper bag if necessary to walk past...
the $tealership technicians are paid well enough to take their time while changing the filter.
ive changed them myself before, but with the genuine filter it makes me feel better about my 195k vg under the hood.
only 25$ for the oil+filter change.
