Looking to install iPod. Which modulator?

Hi guys. I recently got a transmitter and it was horrible with a bunch of static. I understand that a hard-wired fm modulator will be much better because not only is it more powerful but it goes in with ur antenna wire. Is that correct? So... Which one would you reccomend? And has any1 done this before? Thanks everyone for your help.

P.S. I am looking to spend aroudn $50

Yes, wireless FM Modulators are regulated by the FCC or whatever group it is, and they can only transmit with a certain strength. Hardwired ones interrupt the antenna wire before it hits the radio. Any hardwired one will work the same, just stop by best buy or circuit city or somewhere like that, and they should have one in stock. You will probably need two antenna adapters though, to convert the nissan one to the single pin one, and then from the FM Mod back the the nissan two-pin antenna.

Spend an extra $50 if u have an aftermarket reciever, and get an iPod adapter. Sound quality is top notch, and it also charges the iPod for you. If you use ur iPod a lot its definatly worth it. I used to have the FM Transmitter, but hated the sound quality. My iPod interface for my Kenwood was definatly worth $100.

I have an Audiovox FM modulator if you want it. I bought it new last year from Circuit City for $50. It still works I just took it out to try different methods of getting the iPod to work.

Just PayPal $10 for shipping and I'll send it to you.

I came in here wondering if there was another way to interface the iPod with the stock Bose system, but it looks like I'm out of luck. I wanted to use the Neo iOn SP (www.mp3yourcar.com), but they don't have it available for Nissan applications. Has anyone heard of another product like the iOn? I would REALLY like to have the iPod steeringwheel/headunit control and direct audio feed.

I have yet to find anything that allows you to use the HU controls to control the ipod. The next best thing other than replacing the HU is the SPEC USA adapter (www.crutchfield.com ). Its a direct connection, but you still have to control it through the ipod.

The Soundgate ALNS1 with the Denison iceLink Plus for Alpine MBUS receivers can provide this functionality. The ALNS1 converts the Nissan changer input into a generic MBUS interface. The iceLink Plus allows you direct access to 5 playlists as "discs", full control of the iPod using steering wheel controls, and also charges the iPod. Its pricey, but does exactly what you are looking for.
