Power Steering hoses

Does anyone know what size (diameter) the hoses are for the Power Steering? I've had a leak for a while, I had someone turning the wheel while the car was running but I can't tell directly where it is coming from, and it's not leaking directly from the resourvoir. The fluid that leaked out is mostly on the frame under the radiator. I tried looking in the Haynes Manual but it didn't have the info I was looking for.

Why do you care what diameter it is? Do you intend to fabricate your own? Why not just replace it in kind with OEM? It can't be very expensive.

I haven't checked the price on the OEM. If I know the part number of the hose I would buy it. If anyone has the part number that would help.

Phone the dealership and describe what you're after. They will have the part #.

I actually just checked with a few Nissan dealers and a complete hose assembly is about $140 USD. I don't need the wholse assembly though.

Look up the Midway Nissan thread in the group deals forum - post a message for Dan Tech - he'll take the time to hook you up with the hoses you need. If Nissan only packages things as an assembly - he won't be able to split that up for you - but he'll get you a much better price than your local dealer offered.

I have the same problem with my 96 max. It looks lke there are two hoses that run from the Power steering fluid resivoir down near the radiator. I can't tell which one is leaking either.

I'm still having the problem as well. I believe the part numbers are 9725MC and 9725MD. Is your Max a 5 speed or an auto ?

I just bought the oem low pressure hose for about $40 from Pinnacle Nissan. The High Pressure hose is much higher about $140 to be exact. They also have a seal kit which you might need if you replace the hoses. From what everyone says you want to use the nissan hoses, cause the other ones are cheap and will burst on you. This is not a cheap problem to fix. Buy a Sh8t load of ps fluid!!

I have had this same problem with my wifes 98 auto for a couple of years now. I have just ignored it and purchased alot of ATF fluid to keep filling the resevoir. It only happens when it is cold outside. It's waaaaayyy past getting old at this point.

Are these parts also know as the Pressure Hose and the Suction Hose?

You have a high pressure and a low pressure hose. The low pressure hose is the suction hose. It is connected to the bottom of the PS fluid tank and is fed by gravity. The high pressure hose is the long one that you see up near the firewall and left hood strut on the passenger side.
