Is the 92 ECU's Learning ECU's?

Is the 92 ECU's Learning ECU's?

Situation we broght a car back to life after months of being in one place.
We cleaned it up, we turned it up. We cleaned the IACV, we changed the PCV. No CEL's however we st get a high idle.

Question is the ECU's in a 92 a learning ECU and it needs to just go thru x number of cycles? or what?

Any and all information is appreciated.

It needs to collect enough stats about the engine. It takes less than 100 miles to do so. So if after a couple days it still idles too high, you have to do one or both of those two things: 1) repair all small vacuum hoses under the hood; 2) adjust IACV according to the FSM, i.e. turn the ECU screw all the way clockwise, set the idle RPM to 700 using the IACV screw, turn the ECU screw back ccw all the way. The RPMs should be 750 after that. If you cannot set them to 700, than you have a vacuum leak.

i bought a remaped ECU, pluged it in, got awsome gas mileage the first tank or two.. then it started giving me more lust for power that's available, and gas mileage gone down the crapper...

the moral of this? ... no matter how long the ECU takes to learn ur habbits, ur right foot always manages to adapt and make things turn into crap, and money fly out ur pocket. no technology can beat the adaptability of biology.

Are you able to post a factual reference for that statement?

IMHO and quite a few others', the ECU is as dumb as can be and can learn absolutely squat!

..............and if it doesn't learn at all you are the only reason why a well tuned and cared for vehicle's mileage would go down the crapper

so if you reset the ECU and drive very careful the next 100 miles you'd get better mpg?

and even more interesting... if you reset it and then drive as though your right foot was made out of lead, you'd get a thrusting, raging bull ready to attack the lamers on the road?

In other words, after a reset if you give a lot of gas, would you get more power?
