Where to mount Wideband o2 bung? Front bank, rear bank?

I will be recieving my wideband o2 on Wednesday and I plan to get the o2 bung welded on Wednesday as well. My question is where should I mount the bung? Should I mount it in the front bank or the rear bank or after both banks? I plan to get it mounted in my y pipe, but I am open to suggestions/ opinions.

Thanks,

-Nick

Do it at the collector Nick. Unless you want to get two sensors which would be the absolute best way to make sure things are going smoothly. Thats the way I'm going to have to go I think.

Yeah, you will probably want to read the A/F ratio from bnoth banks. Put it right where the two banks meet up.

You inspired me I got the black face with the aluminum bezel - I'm going to mount it above the steering wheel next to the J&S.

The Bosch LSU4.2 wideband O2 sensor has an operating temperature range that maxes out at about 1300 F (maybe less, I forget), so you can't mount it close to the headers. The best place to mount a wb sensor is in a test pipe or in the y-pipe collector just before the cat.

I don't know what the operating range of the NTK WB sensor is.

The operating temp range of both is 750-800 deg F. From what I have read they both will give error signals if you exceed its safe range.

Mine is mounted just aft of where the cat should be.

The distance from the engine is not a concern in relation to sensor reaction time. I have mine set to shut off the nitrous at 12.5 and from the time I hit the spray button until it shuts down the system if the a/f is too high is approx 0.4 seconds.

It was tested a few times recently when I had a fuel solenoid failure, so I went through a few of the logs just to confirm how long it took to react.

PS I have both the FJO and Tech Edge units. The number of samples per sec of the FJO is approx 50 vs the TE which is around 20. One is NTK the other Bosch. Not sure if that is relative to the sensor or the unit itself.

Good info guys! I think that I am going to mount the o2 in the Y-pipe collector as close to the cat as posssible(I still have an OEM cat, have to run emissions). I will be running a Bosch o2 sensor as I am getting the Zeitronix Zt-2 WBo2, so I dont think there should be any issues.

Thanks again for the info guys,

-Nick

I just installed the Zeitronic wb02 and it the destruction manual suggests placing the sensor in the down pipe after the turbo, and just before the cat for a N/A car. From experience if your going to tune just using the display, good luck. If you have access to a lap top the opportunities are endless. What are you using to tune with? SAFC, emanage, ect....

I am tuning with an SAFC.. I will be also using my laptop, so no worries there. I decided to go with the display for the fact that I can use it to display other values such as EGT, lamda and such..
