Figured out what is wrong with new struts, now how do I fix it?

As some of you may know, I'm having some issues with some new struts that were installed in my 2000 Maxima.

I figured out what the problem is, but I need some help figuring out what went wrong here...

If you bounce the front of the car while looking under the hood at the top of the strut, you can see the large center nut moving up and down about 3/8" as if the center nut isn't tightened enough, but we checked it, and it's as tight as it will go.

Is there supposed to be a spacer underneath that large nut? Something either got installed "bass akwards" or we're missing a spacer or something....

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Just looked at the Haynes Manual and there looks like a spacer/washer between the spring seat and the bearing inner race. Could it be missing?

Hm, last time I did the strut install, I had a similar problem, even though the nut seemed tight I had to tighten it more and I sweat a lot doing it... So, it may be worth while checking it again, proving that you installed all spacers and bushings...
