One 5th gen guy moved the digital a/c controls to the sunglass holder. Im sure you could also move them into the center console. I was debating it at one time, but on my budget right now, and since i already have a nice non-dvd Eclipse deck its not too feasible.

With all due respect, you sound like a complete d!ckhead when you make comments such as this. You are not a moderator and hence, do not have the ability to ban someone.

Gladly. My second fiberglassing project will involve making a center console that houses a 7" LCD, my Alpine 9833, and the climate control. I have already cut the shifter console as to allow for the frame. The frame is made of pine and backed with mortar board. I will have pictures up sometime next week, I will be able to work on [this] project once I finish painting the amprack this week.

Its a joke. Im not better than you, Im not a moderator, and you wont physically get banned. Its a commonly said phrase I picked up from other forums I frequent.

Is someone a little sensitive about the ban button

*lol*

My apologies for lashing out like that. My boss is in one helluva mood thanks to my lazy-******* coworkers, and, since I'm second in command, I have to take all of the crap. I'm ready to rip their heads off. I read that right after he blew his steam off at me (in spite of ME doing nothing wrong) and it set me off. It's all good, though.

Anyway, yeah, I have started working on the 4-din center console, the end product would leave me with the monitor, hu, and cc attached to the shifter in one, fluid peice. I can't wait to get it started, but it looks like I won't be able to do that until next week. If I have time I will start the thread tonight, but you can bet I will have it up and started soon.

I am also looking into possibly glassing an X-Box into the glovebox...a used X-Box will run me just as much as a DVD player would, so I might be going this route instead. All in all, it should prove to be a new and exciting thread!

i have a friend with a 4th gen that moved the controls inbetween the visors. it does not have to be digital. the switches are all electrical. nothing physically moving the the shutter from freash to re-circ. i was thinking of doing the same. i wanted to keep my head unit where it was and put the dvd player in the armrest.

You are correct, they are all electronic and not cable controlled. What I meant was that the only person that has done this in a 5th gen did it with the digital climate controls, which are not plug and play with the manual ones.

Sorry to hijack the thead, but it looks promising that I will have the 4-din project running @ full steam on Monday. I should be finished painting the amprack this weekend.

ok got an idea, may be wrong here but let me see. I thaught about taking the ac controls and cutting them out of there holder and using that for the 3rd din. it is a perfect fit, if your willing to hack up your ac controls. looking for a junk yard right now!!

Someone has already relocated the cc to the sunglasses holder...they had it for sale in either the 5th gen or ICE classified, peek around there for it.

yes that is true but i dont mean just relocating. look at the crack around the bottom and sides of the ac controls. if you could cut that perfectly around that crack you could use the outside part as a din holder!!

TRANSLATION: I am going to remove the CC electronics and cut out the plastic trim to make a single-din slot using the cc frame.

Um, yes...you could. But the plastic is MAD flimsy (trust me, I know) and would not be able to hold mor than a cellphone, particularly is hollowed out.

Look, here is my suggestion. You could purchase a Microvision 7" LCD and place it where the HU is now. Then, mount your dvd player under the passenger dash. No muss, no fuss.

The only reason I am going my route is because I am using a 9833 as my HU and a dvd player as a dvd player...only.
