Helios H3 micro fog kit

For those that already installed the h3 micro kit in your 5.5, are you choosing to not re-install the back of the foglight housing. I can't figure out how to re-use the backing without cutting both the wires to the hid h3 and the oem harness that's in the backing piece. I don't feel real comfortable not installing the backing piece incase it rains and such. I don't mind soldering, but I thought the kit was plug and play.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

This is what I think needs to be done for the Helios kit to be installed correctly.

Is anyone doing it differently?

That is exactly what I did to install my 6000k HELIOS H3 HID kit. I cut and then rewired the kit so that I could reuse the factory plug. Everything went fine without any problems. Here are some pics of the location of the ignitor and ballast behind the bumper.

Thanks for the answer. Did you reuse the small rubber plug in the original backing piece and just thread the HID kit wiring through?

Also it loosk like from you pictures, that you mounted the passenger ballast and ignitor on the inside of the bumper cover. So my questions are:
1. how did you mount the ballast to the aluminum mounting bracket that came with the kit?
2. And once you mounted the ballast to the aluminum bracket, did you screw the bracket in to the bumper?
3. Did you take out the headlights for easier access?

Thanks for the help.

I think my bigger concern is that this kit is marketed as plug and play, which it is technically. But to use it safely requires a lot more work.
