Hey,
My headlight socket burnt out a while ago, so today i was crimping it on (i used tape before, heheh, too lazy and it was cold out). Anyway, i got all of them crimped except one, because the wire was way to short, so i just left it. I put in new bulbs too, so i was just checking to see if the bulb on the other side worked. Well both lights turned on. High beams on the side with the one wire off doesnt work, so is that wire just for high beams? Is it ok to run without that wire connected?
thanks

I think that unconnected short wire is the one that provide power for high beam. Awhile ago I was fooling around with the socket by connecting a wire from one of the socket's 3 connector to ground, and another connector to power and got low beam. I then switched the wire for power to the other connector and got high beam. From that experiment I concluded that the three socket connectors are for ground, low, and high beam. You should be ok with that high beam wire left unconnected.

One wire is the ground, one is the low beam and the other high beam. If the wire from the car side touches bare metal, you will blow a fuse so tape it up or figit

haha.. i hear you... that happened in one of my other cars... never put in high wattage bulbs again....

in my other car, the bulb shattered inside the housing, melting part of the lense, the connectors were fried/burnt/crisp, and it blew out the high beam swich on the steering column...
