Quick question on use of steering wheel controls with aftermarket HU...

Okay, I've about exhausted my search for a reasonably priced replacement for my stock non-bose unit on my 2002 SE. CD player isn't working, and although I like the stock look, good sound with CD capability is a must right now, as FM reception sucks in this thing and the commute to work is getting unbearable. Anyway, heres my question. Do I need to look for any specific features to ensure that my steering wheel controls will work with an aftermarket HU? I have read the stickies and know that I need a PAC-SWI-X adapter, but will it work on most aftermarket head units? I am considering these units right now.....
Kenwood KDC-MP228

Clarion DB355MP

Pioneer DEH-P3700MP

Thanks for all the help....
Jason.

The PAC SWI-X is easy to program and set up...I have one, if you need it. I never used it-I bought an Alpine HU and used the SWI-ALP instead.
