hlsd tranny swap

just wanting to know how much the tranny usually costs for the swap....traction is becomming my enemy. i can do the install myself, so labor doesn't matter, i just don't know how much the 01 tranny costs.....btw i have an 00 5-speed now.

any and all help is appreciated

Why not just put a decent LSD in your current tranny? Helical LSD isn't the best LSD when it comes to off-the-line traction, IMHO. Its design is the most "streetable" LSD so it makes some sacrifices on the performance side in order to add to longetivity and driveability.

thats why i'm asking about the cost....i'm debating if i should swap in a 6-speed with the hlsd, or just buy a quaife. just need to see if theres a huge price difference between the two.

the quaife is probably going to be over 1000 plus install unless you can do it yourself. an 02+ tranny with HSLD i seen some on car part for as cheap as 500 to almost 2K.

edit

or you can throw in a phantom grip for $300. not sure how good they are though..

a 6 speed swap to a 3.0 is going to cost way more than you want to spend. you have to modify and move things around. it's not worth it. if you want more info do a search and you will see that blackbird has done one and it was a lot time wasted. if you want an lsd than buy an aftermarket one. i would say buy a quaife but i don't believe that they make those for our cars anymore.
