The ride is pretty rough over large bumps but thats a trade I'm willing to make for the handling and the look.

 

I drive in the NYCMA and I can't complain about the bumps, although they are numerous and widespread. You just need to develop a keen eye for massive potholes.

 

great....all i need is another thread to convince me to drop a lot of money on coilovers instead of shocks/springs. i was seriously about to order shocks/springs this weekend too...

The best mod for the maxima. Lowering struts/springs don't even come close to the performance and comfort of true adjustable coilovers.

 

i like mine but just found out that one of my CV boots is busted and to replace my axle will be around $600-$700. Not too happy about this, and have a feeling this wouldn't have happened if my car was still on stock suspension

 

Yes, it would have happened on stock suspension. The axle plus labor should not be more than $200.

 

actually with the D2's I had my car dropped about 4-5" in the front and about 3" in the back. Maybe my CV boot was going to split anyways, but oh well....what can you do. I know when you start messing with things you always end up spending more...it's worth it though....

 

I had the shop telling me it's gonna cost me around $600, what a bunch of crap. I hate it when people try to rip you off as now I know I cannot trust them.....

 

depends an axle will end up costing more than 200 dollars in itself, whoever said that probably just had a boot replaced. price also depends on where you get the axle and who installs it for you but i would say that im pretty sure its gonna run you more than 200 dollars for a new axle installed.

 

tell me how you drove around w/ a 5" drop. How did you manage to turn w/ your wheels tucked in?

 

not to hi-jack but how high r ur guys wheel wells from the ground, i thought i was rahter low, but it sounds like some of u are way lower than me, mine are 24 inches front and rear form the ground to the middle of the bottom of the well, and im runnin the stock 17s with 45 series rubber

yes i know that means my rear is set higher than the front, thats how i like it!

It may not have been that much, as I didn't actually measure before and after. Guesstimating, I had about a four to 5 finger gap between the front tire and wheel well and after I dropped it you could'nt see the top of the tire. It could be less, but it seemed like a 4" drop or so.

 

ColdSHO, I'm lovin' your ride. I was at about the same height. My front was at 24" and the rear is at almost 24.5" I love the look, but I just switched out my rims yesterday......back to my G35C's and.............. raised the car up a little.

I love my coilovers. Yes they get a little annoying when driving your car everyday but like was said before, the look and handling make up for it.

 

I' ve been running on D2 for the last 2 months, the car is litterally on rails. I had to re-thigh the colar few time but other than that the car is very stable in every condition. The only drawback are the flimsy rubber that come with the D2, and few rattles that appear because the ride is much stiffer than stock. When I compare to a stock Maxima side to side with mine I'm like 5-6 inches lower. From the front subframe there is about only 3-4 inches of ground clearance.

 

wow 24 inches flat for the front is pretty damn low....right now, i'm a tad under 24.5 inches for the front...i had it on 24 flat before....it was overkill if u asked me

 

Which Coilovers Hold up the best over time? How are the Teins?

 

I am about 24 3/4 " in the front and about 25 1/4" in the back and love how it sits, any lower and it tends to rub over big dips. Im on JIC's

 

that's crazy how you guys get so low. for some reason i thought going any lower than 25 wasn't possible with most coilovers (besides d2's) since they claim to only lower up to 3", and i thought our front ends sit higher than 28" stock.. i thought i was stretching my imagination when i was hoping for 25" all around w/o setting it at the lowest setting...

 

Im at 26 1/4 all the way around and I still have tons to go....IIRC, you can tuck the stock wheels ~1.5" so the lowest would be close to 23".

 

actually i voted unhappy but now that i have all my little quirks worked out with the D2's I love them. Sure they a re a little uncomfortable, but the look and handling more than make up for the rough ride over bumps!! I think this would be one of the best mods out there...

Havent measured height but low real low.

 

nah actually when i was new on the .org i saw them for $40 and said, "wow what a great deal!" I dont regret it though since the ride isnt too bad... ive been in worse.
