I intalled the intake jsut fine but theres a hole on the top of the air filter. Right under the word stillen. I read the intructions and it says thats where the Air temperture sensor goes but 97 maxima dont have one. What do i do about the hole?

dont worry about it. its just sucking air from the engine bay anyways so its about the same temp. no worries.

If it is a hole that lets unfiltered air into the intake, you need to cover it up. Dirt in the combustion chamber is not a good thing.

Would covering it up with duct tape work? or would it melt?

Read the last 2 sentences all the way at the bottom

All 4th gens have a IAT sensor, the 97+ just looks different and is actually plugged into the snorkel air duct as far as I remember.

97-99 intake sensor:

Yes installed correcty, which means you need the stock rubber grommet and cut and resolder the wires longer.
