People who installed amp: Need a pic of your ground point

Can you post a pic (or PM me) where in the trunk you grounded your amp?

two little holes for the screws, yes.....

sanded off all paint, obviously.

I don't remember there being anything around there to really worry about hitting under the car. Get under and check first, but shouldn;t be a problem

And I used nuts underneath to hold it down, obviously.

NO YOU CAN'T
If you're that worried about the drilling, try inder a seat belt latch or something, but seriously, get under there. I'm pretty sure it's a simple shot.

sure, but if there's any bare metal that will expose to the elements, i'd cover it with some spray paint etc so the metal won't rust.

I dont mind drilling 2 small holes but what's the reason why I shouldn't just attach wires and cover it up w/ dynamat?

Wow ascendant we disagree on this one. Raamat does hold pretty good, but getting a lot of good, solid contact...I wouldn't go there.

I couldn't see it doing too well, or if it does, lasting long....

Ever done one this way?

Cause it's more permanent (if done well will NOT come loose) and seems easier to have much more contact area.

Ascendant knows his stuff. I guess it's doable. I wouldn't do it personally.

well if the hole goes through to under the chassis, water and stuff can splash on it. just a pre-cautionary thing

The strut bolt is in your car. If you take off all of your trim and look to the left or right under the rear deck, you should see 3 bolts (I think its 3). They are in an odd location, so I dont know how you would get to those.

If you are going to drill a hole, just go to home depot, get a bolt, nut and a few washers. Sand the area, then drill. For me, my first amp install, i had drilled a hole through the upper deck. I had the cover on the inside removed, so it was easy to put a bolt through there. Now I have it attached to the bolt of some black metal piece next to the spare tire well. Whatever you do, it has to be firmly attached or you could have problems in the future if your ground becomes loose.

OK lemme backtrack and apologize. I am using a grounding terminal and that I thought was a given and it is not. It came with my 0 Guage amp install kit but looks exactly like this up close...and thats what is bolted to the bare metal.

http://www.cardomain.com/item/STISGT0N

From my recollection, whatever screws that came with it were self tapping screws (maybe I'm wrong...just my memory) So I just used my own nuts and bolts that fit in there perfectly to hold it on.

I strongly recommend one of these for grounding. It's what they're made for and I haven't had one let me down yet (except for the time where it was my user error but I don't wanna talk that)

I used the screw head bolt that holds down the back seat(where that little fold down armrest is/pass through to the trunk), I don't have a pic, but it worked, didn't have to drill anything, just had to remove one bolt and tighten it back up. There is a protective flap covering the area because of that piece of steel nissan loves to use that cuts you everytime you touch it.

I have used seat belt bolts with success before too (nver in a maxima). If you're anti-hole and/or don't want to put out cash for a good grounding terminal, gie it a try. I like my grounding terminal though....it's like a basic 5 minute job...no need to pull up seat, is quickly /easily serviceable...

i use seat belt bolts too, just pull of the bottom seat, and loosen the middle seatbelt bolt, and put it there, works perfectly for me.

Dude...theres no need to criticize. Ammi is a member that has been here a long time. Everyone's knowledge varies. Maybe his strength is engines, or detailing, not audio. Thats like making fun of me because I don't do my own oil changes, but I consider myself rather proficient in audio.

I don't think it's a matter of being difficult as much as getting others input on where they wired their ground connections. Everyone knows how annoying alternator whine can be, and asking questions like "where is the best grounding point" is a good way to keep yourself from having that headache.

I've already went through 3 different spots to get rid of the anoying noise. Just trying to find the optimal spot w/ ZERO noise. If I can replace axles and do turbo swaps at home, I think I can manage attaching ground wire
