Explain this to me

Why do 6 speeds have softer springs in the front than autos??? Now that i have a 6 speed i've noticed that it rides softer than my auto......I know the auto weighs more but still i've never noticed this on other cars. I liked the stiffer ride of my auto campared to the manual......
