I already have illuminas/h&r combo, the handling has improved but there is still considerable body roll. Will a rsb help a lot to lessen body roll?

 

FSTP is the fastest and cheapest way to keep the front planted. The RSB will plant the rear. Do both and come down here and auto-x with Irish to shut him up, PLEASE!!!

 

It is all about the FSTB RSTB LTB and Sub-Frame Connectors. I have heard that the Sub-fram connectors do the most.

 

Do a rear sway bar big thumbs up there. These cars so need them.

RSB will do the most. i dont care what anyone says, the FSTB is mainly for looks (yes ive tried it, i have one on my car)

 

RSB + LTB.

Or, you could just leave it stock and jack it up for increased wheel gap, like GeorgieBauer.

 

Rear Sway Bar and FSTB. Did them on both of my 01s. The GLE was like night and day.

RSB made the biggest improvement on my GXE; changing the front springs / struts also reduced body roll.

 

I got illuminas and S-Techs. Handling in my eyes still suck. I have a FTSB coming in. No money for the rest though I was I want to get in some maintenance. BTW what is a LTB?

It doesn't have to be lowered to stay planted. Granted, mine has more body roll than most, but I'd be willing to bet that with my tires and fstb alone I can keep up with you (Karim) in the corners. The rubber makes all the difference. I don't care if you have the best suspension in the world, if you're rolling on craptenza's, you'll end up in the ditch.

What sub-frame connectors are you talking about? I haven't heard about this mod..

 

If you want to reduce body roll, an RSB is a must. Also, IIRC, the 5.5 gen OEM FSB is slightly thicker than the 00-01's. I think BlackBIRDVQ did this swap at some point. As for the rest of the mods mentioned (FSTB, RSTB, LTB and subframe connectors), don't confuse body roll with body flex. Their real purpose is to stiffen the unibody, letting the suspension do its job more efficiently.

 

sounds like a couple of you are recommending that after the fstb and rsb a LTB will yield the next biggest results. Is that true or will changing the struts/shocks/springs give better results than the LTB?

I guess what i said does help with body flex mostly but I guess if i had to choose 3 in order i would go with FSTB (so cheap), RSB, then LTB.

 

For me it's a tossup between the LTB and springs/shocks (prices excluded). I went the LTB way mainly waiting for the shocks to finally blow (which they haven't), but mostly trying to get as much data on the springs (I'm more interested in the rates than the drop itself). I am yet to find the stock SE springs' rates for a baseline.

I'm not certain my 02 can hang with my 00 Quest SE in a corner.

 

Stiffer springs & struts make a huge difference in reducing roll and dive. Take a moment and think about what they're designed to do. I'll link later tonight to a pic of what I'm talking about.

sounds like people are leaning towards LTB after FSTB and RSB. This is good b/c it's cheaper. My next lowest cost option was just to replace front shocks with illumina's and not replace the springs or rear shocks. My next highest was to put illumina's up front and springs all around (though this would eventually kill my rear shocks). Both these options are more expensive than the LTB and it sounds like it may not yield any better results than the LTB. I am very pleased with what the RSB is doing in the back, I don't think I need to change the back at all, just the front.

 

The FSTB and RSB, LTB2 will do a lot but honestly since I have the D2 coilover, man this car is totally different in that aspect. I think if you had a good set of coilover with RSB & FSTB that's all what you need the LTB2 will stiffen the front, it may help with less body roll but not as much as a good set of coilover will do.

 

RSB will reduce rear bodyroll....the only other way to increase resistance to roll is to get stiffer springs. Braces dont do jack for bodyroll, they work for chassis flex.
