Is it just the compressor has gone out? If so, you can get good deals on ebaymotors.com for compressors. Find someone selling a 4-seasons one, they are built to take R134a conversions. Not that I like R134a, as it is not as good as old R12, but it is so much cheaper now than even recycled R12. The problem with R12 is that even if you can find it, sometimes what you get will not always be pure R12 and can have other impurities in it. Unless you were one of those people who stashed away a supply of pure R12 before the ban.

You will also need to replace all the hoses, seals (to R134a type), reciever/dryer, and expasion valve.

About your streering issue; I wonder if it's your tires.

Well, heres the problem with going A/C less. You pull the A/C compressor, what would your alternator use? Off the main pully, there isn't a track for the alternator, and if you tried to used something, the belt will jump off. KALSC was able to find a 4-rib pulley and I believe had to realign the altenator for it to work...then find a belt. I think you can use the stock idler pully as well. Either way...with how belts are routed on this car...it might be more trouble to ditch the system then just to leave the compressor in.

i am thinking since hes all that and then some he would have thought of popping a ac pully off, or finding an existing similar size pully, and making a mounting bracket to mount only the pully where the compressor and pully used to exist, but it would be free spinning with no load behind it there for eliminating some of the mess of finding some belt, moving the alternator but at the same time thats the next easiest way to do stuff....

the alternators does have 2 belts going to it at the same time bu i dont think its the same on all cars....the alternators is powered by some thing else and then the a/c compressor runs off the alternator seperatly....

really all in all, after reinstalling a new compressor my self it would be worth it to me to just leave the thing in there

When I bought my maxima, it did not have a compressor on it, and there was only one drive belt running everything....so it can be done. I would not recomend this because my belt squeeled all the time. Once I realized what the problem was I changed over to the stock 3 belt set up.

I hope the $500 is including labor. It shouldn't cost that much to fix.

What exactly is the problem? Do you have a leak? Did the compressor just quit? Elaborate please.

As for the wobble, your tires could be out of alignment/need balancing or you could have bad tie rod ends.

Can someone send me a photo of the compressor elecrtical plugs?

I have an 88 maxima MT and I got a compressor from the junkyard 6 yrs ago. I recently noticed that I have two plugs comming out of the A/c Compressor but only the small one is actually pluged in. I cant find out where the other plugs into...

Also I need help wiring my passerger side radiator fan. It works but it never turns on by itself. maybe i have it plugged into the wrong plug. both temperature sending units are working too. I have many wiring problems and just need some pictures of where some things plug into...

Mizzl232mike@msn.com

Thanks

Help!

My fan doesn't even come on with the a/c on. It's starting to get annoying too, the car's A/C isn't working at all when the car is running and at a stop because the air isn't moving through the A/C radiator, but it's fine when in motion. HELP! i need pics of the passenger side radiator fan plugs!
