00VI running lean and aftermarket ECUs

I have the 00VI and a Technosquare ECU. At WOT, the car is supposed to default to preset a/f maps, right? If that's the case, why am I running rich at WOT? I haven't put the car on a dyno to confirm it's running rich but I have to indicators:

1) The car does not pull as hard as when I'm at close to WOT
2) I can smell it

Any thoughts?

So... it's running rich and not lean, like your subject says?

Did TS do anything to your fuel maps?

Might be a stupid question as I don't remember what your setup is... but did you keep stock injectors or go to DEK injectors? They're larger...

i think w/ dek injectors you'll tend to run rich @ wot unless you tune.

That's what I was implying of course.. But he may not have used DEK injectors in which case it'd be something else

I believe im running rich at WOT as well, used the larger injectors, no tuning at all but stock ECU.

Then you definitely are, as am I. Check eckohb's recent dyno out in the dyno forum.. he was around 11:1 a/f under WOT.

Stock injectors and the TS a/f maps are supposed to be leaner than what was originally programmed.

I was even dipping under 10 at some points on the dyno. Get it tuned, and you will be fine. Get the SAFC-II or VAFC-II, whatever suits you best. Then go to Speedquest in Waukegan, IL. My baseline was 160 whp/ 165 wtq, and we left at 174 whp/ 186 wtq, SAE corrected that is. It will definitely be worth your while.

Thanks, Steve. I will wait for word of the GReddy eManage Ultimate unit. If it can really control ignition advance and the rev limiter, I'll pick that up.

yeah, we talked to joe. his max got stolen. he said he is looking for an altima now. they gave me a pretty good deal on the dyno tuning. 175 for a little over 2 hours, and he re-did the wiring. Not bad for the gains i got from it. Now if only i could fix my fockin brake problem
