Tracked my 6spd this thursday

Went out for some street legals just a few hrs ago...here are the results...car #2143

couldn't get the launch down...it's about 90 degrees out and I just got off the freeway...no cool down time...

Same result....spun real badly....got back in like right after I finished running...not much time for cooling

Decided to cool down the engine for 2hrs...and what do u know? I get a pretty damn good run...sorry if u can't see the #'s but my 60ft is a 2.343..although I didn't achieve my goal (2.2 60ft) i'm satisfied that my car performed well in hot weather

Mods: 2k2 6spd, Apex-i Intake, Cattman Headers, Budget Test pipe, Cattman Catback
Temperature: low 90s from 4-5pm...went down to high 70s by 7pm..and finally low 70s by 8-9pm...humidity was unknown but i'm sure it was a low percentage
Elevation: 800ft above sea level
Misc: spare tire/jack and any loose items removed. Lowered my front tire psi to 28 hot

Let me guess you went to Irwindale??

You should come to Fontana, and avoid the water box. After that spin the tires a little to clean them and I'm sure you'll get a 2.2 60'

that looks like a 14.1 if it were the 1/4 good run.

went to fontana in the past...absolutely didn't like it....way to slippery for my taste...and it wasn't just me either....all the other maximas that went that day were gettin poor times....to me, irwindale is the stickiest, and fastest track locally around here...

he is right...your probably a high 15 or a low 16 in the quarter mile...which equals to about high 10s in the 1/8th...

9.19 1/8th mile= 14.15-14.20. Very good times. Those trap speeds are healthy.

I had the same 60' as you at fontana. So are you saying if I go to irwindale I'll get better 60'??? Right now I'm only running a 10.1 in the 1/8, that is with a 2.5 60'

Were you there at Fontana last year around Feb? There was a lot of maximas there. I showed them my 11 second 1/4 mile slip, not 1/8 mile. They took a look at my altima and went ROFL. I know the slip was messed up, but it was still funny.

not bad. get that launch down packed and you should be able to see some 8.90s. next time go to a 1/4 mile track.

Yup i was there with the maxima heads last year....aren't u a member on the altima boards? anyway irwindale is a very sweet track...nice and sticky...and the weather is not as bad as fontana...plus i don't really care too much for 1/4th...i already know my car pulls real hard to redline and i'm sure i'd get some bomb *** times if i ran a 1/4th....i just needa concentrate on 1/8th as of now...it's pretty much all launch

thanks for the input! I hope to go back next year during the winter time (nice cold temperature) to hit some 8.9's....my mod setup should still be the same as it is right now...well I'll prob have the stock muffler on this time...but it won't make any difference

i don't wanna go 1/4th...the only 1/4th local track around here is fontana and that track sux major *****...i went there with my 4th gen and spun real badly in 1st gear....i can't imagine wut it would be like with a vq35 6spd....

Using the typical conversion factor, 1.55 to 1.57, that is between a 14.2 and 14.4 in the 1/4. The conversion factor most consistent with my times is 1.56 x 1/8th ET = 1/4 ET. So you are probably looking at a 14.3, but give or take a tenth.

Was a member. I like this site better, it's more technical. I'll be sure to go with you guys to Irwindale in the future when I get my header and fuel issue taken care of. NA I run high 10's and that is just boring.

I think it's perfectly fine to run at the track on hot days....say for instance u run a 14.5 in 90 degree weather...then u can safely assume that you'll hit 14.4 or 14.3 in 50 degree weather....

so with my personal best being a 9.19 in the 1/8th mile in hot weather...i'm pretty sure i'll break 8's when I go back during the winter....remember that 9.19 was achieved with a crappy 2.343 60ft...i am still getting use to my car...i know for damn sure my car is capable of mid to low 2.2's....i just need to find the right way to launch this thing

ceasar's chariot is my idol for drag racing...i've been watching him since he was a newbie...to a 14.1 veteran...i am hoping to become like him one day

Your car is capable of low 2.1s... it's whether or not the driver is capable of it that makes the difference.
