H3 HID Kit in OEM FOGs question for owners

Do you have enough light to drive without the headlights?

Is installing a H3 HID Kit like the second coming of JC? Is there a lot of light on the ground?

I ask because i bought those ghetto HALO Ebay headlights but the lightout is terrible (as I have read) and instead of retofitting MDX projectors and buying a HID kit and wasting more money I figured i just put a H3 HID kit in the fogs to make up for the suck output.

Any comments ? recommendations.

i have HID's in fogs and the light autput is amazing, and also i rewired them, so they will come on with parking lights. and you can see the road without using a low beam.

Wow bro believe me wasting that extra like 200 dollars for a retrofit is much better the jus trying to get around the bad light output situation. Believe me Ur gonna waste like 250 bucks on an hid kit wen u could jus spend like 160 bucks on some good projectors i went with the E46 projectors and like another 250 on ballast and bulbs and you would have awesome light output. Thats jus my .02

You legally can't drive with only foglights on. There isn't enough light coming from them at stock height. You'd have to tilt them up.

there is a lot of light coming out... its just not enough to completely light up the road. I use my fogs until its completely dark then turn on the headlights

im runnin 8000ks so my output isnt the greatest, i mainly use fogs only when im searching for bumps, im so low that my fogs are barely off the ground so they show big potholes better.

i had my hid fogs b4 i got my hid heads that looked kinda odd

i ran with the reflector in the fogs for a while, i just got around to taking that out, that made alot of light be thrown on the ground, but its hard to tell if im actually brighter now, even tho i think i should be.

is anybody with hid fogs still using the reflector or did u take that out?

Why don't you buy a set on hid projectors on ebay and pay me 200 bucks and I'll do the retro for you.

but yeah, i would still say you should get the projectors as opposed to doing the h3 hid mod..

sup mingo

Dam mingo, remember they jacked my headlights back in 2002. Those headlights lasted only a couple of months in Newark, NJ. That was a sweet deal you hooked me up with. Ahhhhhhh the maxima pre-hid days were sweet.

What do you think? Why would you want your fog lights to be brighter than headlights?

You can get the micro kit from Helios and it's pretty much plug and play. Other kits require some dremel skill

I have the HELIOS H3 HID fog kit and it does a great job lighting up the road. I will be adjusting the fogs so that I will be able to leave the low beam off and just have the DDEs on with the fogs. Here are some pics of the fogs. The glare is due to the digital camera setting that I used.
