Nissan told me today they are buying it back!

Hey all!
I used to post here more often, until I got so discouraged from reading about everyone else who had a shimmy and other problems that I just kept noticing more and more about my 04 max and loving it less and less. Don't get me wrong when I heard today Nissan is offering repurchase, I honestly thought twice, even tho I have been fighting them so hard to repurchase it. It's bittersweet, at least I still have my '94 max, that is a nice ride. I'm glad I didnt have to go to arbitration, the BBBautoline has been real helpful. I settled with Nissan back in Dec 04 for $2000 and final repair attempt (they flew their master tech from california up here to seattle), last month I re-filed the complaint and said I wanted no other settlement other than repurchase and I offered to go straight to arbitration. Nissan's rep asked to re-verify the problem I took the service manager out for a drive and a week later the BBB called and let me know the good news.

The sad thing is i'm out the improvements I made to the car and there is not a single scratch on the car in the 14 months I've owned it. I had the clear bra and tint done and that's an extra 700 or so im out. However they are only deducting 2050 for mileage (8k miles, the car sat in the garage 99% of its life, due to the fact I get free gas and miles on my company's Dodge Magnum *But its no MAX)... I figure if I get out of sales a few years from now I'll look into an Acura TL or Infinity... and dare I say it... perhaps a Maxima.

Congrats on the buyback. It seems like there are more and more used '04's showing up on used car lots. There is one by me '04 SE fully loaded, 25k on it w/ hid's, sunroof, and NAV for $25k. I hate to say it but I am close to maing mine go bye bye too. Only because I know that the shimmy will never get fixed, the sunroof will keep hitting the deflector and eventually my struts will blow.

Did you attempt to have it repurchased at all? They were quick to offer me $2000 back in December just for a chance to take it and repair. Could be a way to pick up some extra. What are you thinking about replacing your max with?

Have you lose a tast for the Max? I'm trouble free so far with my 05, 06's should be even better w/ updates. The G35's are nice cars as well, sportier but smaller. The TL's, well, I'll be nice and only say that they're v6 mid-size sedans with ugly Euro-nese design.

Ya, im not in love with the exterior of the TL, the stripe down the side is kinda ugly. Anyways I won't be buying a new car for a while since i got my magnum to drive and with that I dont have to pay maintence, gas or insurance, and thats quite a savings. No more car payment either, I should start smoking or something so I can find something to spend my extra cash on.

psych! (throwback to the '90s) I just closed on my first house last friday and get the keys today, so i'll have plenty of things to throw my cash at.

Congrats on the house! And yeah, you are going to need the Magnum's cargo area, and the Home Depot will be dipping in your wallet.

Believe me, the thought to sell this 2004SL of my wifes has crossed my mind more than once. $30k for an unreliable vehicle is very frustrating. Not to mention all the trips and time from work to go back and forth to the dealer.

I know $30k could get you a lot of things, one thing that it should get you is a reliable car that you dont have to worry about everytime you drive it. I am so glad that I will be getting a refund of $31k or so after milage deduction, I know if i attempted to sell this piece i would be lucky to get $21k...

I still have the car in my pocession, waiting for the numbers from Nissan to come, Cant. WAit.!

Good luck to you. Between myself and family members, we've had more than a dozen Nissans over the years(other makers too, we're not that loyal ), including my in-laws 04 Max, and the only one with any issues is the 04 Titan(brakes, issue resolved so far).
