Went to a 1/4 track...

Well a group of local nissan's went to the 1/4 track this weekend, which is about 1.5 hours away going 80 mph (big mistake considering how hot and humid it was this past weekend). So it was two 1997 max's, a 02 max, and a 350 Z that went to the track. Here's the times:

60'----2.31---2.29---2.36
330'---6.32---6.40---6.44
1/8----9.70---9.78---9.81
mph---73.9---73.77--72.81
1/4----14.9---15.1---15.1
mph---91.8---92.0---91.8

I was able to get into the 14's with a 9.7 as a 1/8 mile time and my best 1/8 mph was in the 9.4s so there's room for improvement . So on one of the runs I line up with the 02 max (both or us are M/T) and i'm think he is going to beat me. We line up the cars and wait for the green light. As soon as the last yellow light was flashed I gun it and get him off the line. The whole time I am think ok his going to pass me anytime time now. We hit the 60' marker me 2.29, him 2.39. I can still see him in the corner of my eye trying to inch up on me as we approach 1/8 me 9.78 him 9.86. I'm thinking oh $hyt I'm still ahead. Now we reach the 1/4 I finished with a 15.12 and he did a 15.21. I know my car would lose to a lot of other max's out there and people will say the driver didn't do that good. But the fact that he did not come back up on me and we pretty much stayed even after the start(meaning no one gained or lost ground).
I know these aren't great times I just want to see what I would do plus it was a local nissan meet. I will go back in the fall to see what my car can do.

Good kill on the 3.5L. But almost a 2.4 60'... that blows for him.. I bet on a cooler day you'd be deeper in the 14's with a lower 60' time. What mods did the 02 Max have? I've seen slips with a high 2.3, and still managed a 14.4 on a stock 6M ... but that was probably on a better day. I have no humidity here, but rather thin **** air . and thinner air is worse than humidity ...

I would like to see what you run on a cooler day. I see you have a VAFC, do you have a dyno to go along with this time? Well, not really due to the crappy weather, but at least for a small relation.

All of our cars were running crappy because of the drive and heat wave that hit our area. The '02 had headers, underpulley, exhaust, and intake. But he was having trouble with wheel spin (don't know about that run). Thats why I got him off the line thought he would have come back though...
I have not dyno'd my car on a dynojet since I tuned it with the VAFC 2 only have mustangdnyo

Horrible day to go to the track.

Do you know the DA that day?

I would've though with headers he would've done better, is he a member on here, what type of headers does he have HS or Cattman, anything less would be
.
Was this his first time at the track? Seems like 6M's are tricky to launch.

Was this your first time @ the track?

Don't know if he is a member on here and I think he has only been to a track a couple of times like me. This was my first time at a 1/4 but went to the 1/8 1.5 times (I say 1.5 because one time I got like 2-3 runs in for the whole night, it sucked). I need to work on my launches I either wheel hop bad or just start of slow and speed up. They were catt. headers.
And what do u mean by DA?

DA = Density Altitude.

It almost like an SAE correction for ET's rather than HP #'s. Harldy ever used on here, but it be nice to know just for ***** and giggles.

not bad times but i would think your car would be faster with VI and SAFC tuned
my 1999 with Cali Emission (front precat,Swirl valves and extra weight) runs 14.7's @ 93mph.
With just I/E/Y/Grounding kit

Sorry I could not find out the DA of that day Nmexmax, but I know it was 90 degrees but heat index was 100, humidity was 66%, and bar. was 30.06 . And I know my times are not great for what I have on my car but like I said there is room for improvement. I will be going back to try and dip into the mid 14's on a cooler day.

I would have thought that too, I was trapping between 90.3 and 91.1 on an auto w/ stock IM. Some more practice and I"m sure he'll get times down more, along with better conditions...same goes for me.

Density altitude is affected mainly by the temperature, humidity, and the barometer.

Higher temps, lower humidity, and less barometric pressure make for a higher densite altitude...which idn't good
