First time at track.. slow?

Hey everyone, I drive a 98 SE AUTO max. 75k miles. Took her to the track yesterday and wasnt so impressed with my times. I have some mods as well. I have a Budget y just installed a week ago, and a CAI in fender that i just put on hours before going to track. Everything else is stock. Ok anyway so for my best run:

R/T - .356
60' - 2.388
1/8 - 10.083 @ 71.58
1/4 - 15.588 @ 89.36

Shouldnt I be going a tad faster? Any advice would be nice, thanks in advance.
Matt

Looks pretty typical to me. 60' is pretty bad as is usually the case with autos, if you could work on getting that down to an average 60' like say 2.25 you could run 15.2-15.3. What track were you at?

I dont see how to improve my 60' anymore without modding more. I dont really spin or anything at launch. I was at Da Grove, Great Lakes Dragaway, Union Grove, WI. I dont see what else to do differnt, i even shifted each gear at 6500 myself. (1 2 D)

well don't shift at 6500 thats out of the powerband, that should help a little bit. were you brake torquing or just launching off idle or what.

I did a run in D all the way that = like a 16.3 run. I brake torqued to 2k as much as it allowed me to. Shouldnt i be spinning tires a bit after doing that? cause i wasnt. Idk im thinkin i got a bad ks, as ive had the code on before. But is it possible for a 15.5 run with a bad KS? By the way that was only 1 time i ran 15.5, most other runs were 15.7ish and some over 16. My worst run was a 16.6

I was able to get 2.25 stock with "so so" Pirelli tires. You have to floor that pedal when you take off from the line.

What do you think it will take for me to hit high 14's? Will doing the drop resistor mod for a run make a big differnce in my time?

No ... not a BIG difference.

To get there most likely you'll need a VI .... and to guarantee you seeing 14's @ ~ sea level would be VI/ECU combo ...

My best on street tires before having ECU/MEVI was 14.41. My best on street tires after MEVI/ECU was 13.82, that was with catback exhaust also but exhaust is not the big of a power gain, so I'd say 90% of that gain is from the MEVI/ECU.

omg, y is my car so slow. i have a ypipe, catback, hacked intake, my best run is a 16.09 with a 2.4 60 ft. thats my best 60 ft out of 8 runs...wtf, i wish my car did that atleast. in the 2nd 1/8 of a mile i only gain about 11-13 mph whereas he gained 18. trapping at 83 is not good guys!!

something is wrong with your car no question about it. 18mph is about average. you are probably missing 40hp if you are only trapping 83. i hope you're an auto. if you are a 5 spd you should probably drive your car off a cliff.

i dont know which one to choose mevi or 00vi because they both have there differences people say the 00vi gives more overall power but after awhile it started giving problems to some people and the MEVI is easier to install but you dont get much lowend torque and hasnt had any problems ...... correct me and give feedback

I've never heard of any sort of problems with people who installed the 00vi on their 4th gen? The 00vi can bind up so the flaps don't open, but that is not hard at all to prevent from occuring.

Maximaspd85, what ypipe do you have again and how old is it. You might try disconnecting it from your cat and shining a flashlight up there and making sure the flex section hasn't shrunk. Haven't heard of this happening recently, but back about 2 years ago, there was a run of y-pipes made that had bad flex sections that would shrink inside and create a massive exhaust blockage, robbing lots of power.

60:2.529
330:6.896
1/8:10.476
mph:70.12
1000:13.540
1/4:16.185
mph:83.98
obviously my 60 ft is horrible, but thats as quick as my freakin car goes, and as mentioned b4, only a gain of 13 mph in the 2nd 1/8

Idk man thats pretty slow... and i thought i did bad with a 15.5... You seem to have more mods then me too. I still think i can run faster with the same current mods, i am putting in a new fuel filter, NGK spark plugs (which i believe that old ones are from mile 0, 75k miles on car now), and a KS as i got the code 3 times along with other codes that tripped the SES. Idk if its on now i havnt checked, as the SES isnt on so i dont bother (i know KS doesnt trip SES) But car does get pretty bad gas milage ... about 20 mpg and I drive alot on highway at about ~75mph, as well as my car feeling sluggish under 3k rpm's. Next time ill have that all changed, drop the resistor for a run or 2, and see if i can hit em lower 15's.

MaximaSpd85 check your y-pipe flex section like I said. Probably not it but can't hurt. If that doesn't explain anything you should do a compression test.

yikes... a compression test is as hard as changing your spark plugs and a compression tester is like $20. it will come with directions

How much can you honestly expect from an auto n/a with simple bolt-ons and minimum a/f mixture detail? Possibly a tad more from a light GXE w/o leather, sunrf, and other weight additions - 14.9 - 15.5 passes on a good day. Correct me if I'm wrong. Enormously heavy wheel upgrades never help.
