Has anyone done a 2002 Max Engine/Tranny swap in a 1999 Max?
Has anyone done a 2002 Max Engine/Tranny swap in a 1999 Max?
I ask this because I was reading the stickies and it said the wiring on a 99 was like the 5th generation max and therefore it seems logical to me that the swap in general would be easier than any other 4th gen and the 3.5 ECU might even work? If so would the CVT work?
I'm really interested in the 3.5 swap and have been reading up as much as I can. I'm planning on getting a high milage 4th gen cheap and swapping a lower milage engine and tranny from a 2002 max.
Any help would be great, thanks

All VQ30s (1995-2001) will have the same issues, it doesn't matter what year. No one year is easier than another.
If you swap the ecu along with the engine, you will also have to swap in the engine harness and a few things related to the ignition switch, instrument cluster, etc.
Better do some more researching.
