Other than alarm beep...

Has anyone used the dome light button on the factory keyless entry to activate something other than the dome light? Headlights, relay for the stereo, maybe roll the windows back up?

And what about the alarm beep mod for the lock button?

Speaking of that "Window feature" ....Since I have a '95 Max, how long do you press on the unlock button to lower the windows?

I would take a pic of mine, but the picture has been worn off so there'd be no point.

But yea, where everyone else has a panic button, I (and a few others, I guess) have a dome light button. The panic mode is set off by holding down the lock button.

It's annoying, I can't find any others on ebay or otherwise that have a dome light button - even searching using the same text on the back of the remote.

All the ones I can find have a panic button...

On mine, 2 or 3 seconds and they start to roll down.

Let off the button, and they stop rolling down.

It's more the controller in the car than the keyfob....but yea, that sucks.

Does it do anything special our Maximas don't?

If not, try obtaining a US-spec controller for that and swapping it out, that should do it (with some wiring as well, probably).

My keyfob has the light thing too....I was wondering why my remote has a light, where a panic button would be more appropriate. I pressed it by accident , and just the dome light came on. I was wondering if that was all that it did, so thanks for the window tip.

Set off my alarm by accident when I opened the passenger door for my girlfriend on our second date ..since the window were down, I pulled the unlock button in the inside handle...the car didn't like that too much. Neither did her mom, who was there , while I fiddled with the keys, trying to silence the car "manually" while the whole parking lot echoed with the wailing Max . Boy, did I miss my remote then..........

So the moral? No need for a panic button that i've personally experienced....

P.S. I hope my car isn't gettn' jealous....

To fix the Key-fob thing, just get a U.S. spec remote, then check the stickys/FAQ's for the how-to add extra remotes. Someting to do with sticking the key in and out of the ignition six times in ten seconds to enter the programming mode. Then press the lock button on the new controller. The car will blink twice to acknowledge.

Yea, did that once (used to my Camry, where the keyfob only locks the doors, it doesn't have an alarm)...forgot temporarily that I could just unlock the door with the key to turn it off.

Stood there for a few minutes like an idiot wondering what to do before my friend that was in the car unlocked the driver's side door to shut it off.

So anyway, back to my original question...

Has anybody used the dome light button from a 95 max to activate anything else? If not I guess I'll figure something out and put togather a write up.
