SMT6 Now officially is working

After months of working out the bugs in this thing. Joe and I have finally got it to work decently. I just test drove another 10 miles w/o the problems I had earlier. I spent alot of money on this thing back towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year. I took a huge risk by buying this and I got Joe to buy one too. Some reason his always worked better than mine. So now we have the exact same setup and are running smooth. I am not advancing alot of timing right now because I do not have access to a dyno and it is 90-100+ degrees here. So far we have not been able to advance past 10 degrees w/o getting a ghost CEL(which disables the timing).

Sept. 11 will be the track day to show what times I can get with the SMT and w/o it.

Reading the crank signal properly. With out that, the RPM's would not read correctly and I would get CEL's and horrible driving.

I'll be heading to the dyno when Zach is ready then we can do the comparison I we couldn't do in Dallas due to my mishaps down there. That crap was embarrassing.

Haha, it wasnt too bad man. I think everyone was scared of you I would love to see your numbers with the TS ECU and revlimiter.

I want some more of that Mexican food we had.

Glad your happy with the SMT black box...

Now only if I can sell enough of these things to recoup my R&D losses and start working on some more crazier projects.

Yeah a good dyno reading would be great. On Deezo's car I should install a SMT before hand to get some real timing advance for the dyno.

Oh and BTW Kevlo that Mexican food made me more sick than Ive ever been. I thought my butt was giving birth to the son of Satan...

So the SMT6 can advance timing and play with A/F, but cannot move the rev limiter, correct? Damn.

We can't find any SMT dealer that will do this for our cars, im about to invest in a better 2 channel digital scope.

If I had more money I would become a Perfect Power dealer and tuner, but they have a huge buy in and some stupid contractutial demands to meet.

Congrats guys! I'm sure it was a lot of work.

Joe, do you still need me to scope a cam/crank signal for you? I haven't gotten to it yet.. been busy with other things but if you still need it I can make a point to do it soon.

I could also talk to Canspeed up here in Barrie and see if they'd pursue development on the SMT-7.. although if I get the EManage Ultimate working in my car in the next couple of weeks then I can't really see a need for it unless it's cheaper, and last time I checked it wasn't up here (but that was a while ago now).

Perfect Power is working on the crank issue with the SMT-7. But I would like to get the scope triggers for the crank and cam signals sent to them for study. With the SMT-7 we can just upload the new firmware and be on our ways with more timing advance than we will ever need.

Will the SMT-7 be able to bump up the rev limiter?

HAHAHA!!!! You've been asking that a lot................

Man if I were you, I'd get the SMT until they're able to bump it. I think you'd get all the power you need without going to 7200. Just my opinion.

I'm just trying to figure out which is better between SMT and the Ultimate E-manage.

Also I want to ride out 3rd, so maybe not 7200, but I want to rev it to around 6800-6900. I won't go above 7000 rpms since this is a stock engine.

7200 really is ok for a stock VQ35.

I am skipping out on the SMT7 now in favor of the EU.

EU it is then. I don't have ARP rod bolts so 7 grand will be enough. With 26" slicks I would finish the 1/4 mile right around 7000 flat in 3rd gear, which is perfect IMO.

BTW, this is OT stuff, but do you have to shift into 4th in the 1/4?

SMT won't work 100% on a 2k2 ECU anyways. But if its for your other project both SMT and EU have there merits.

Id just like to see the EU work as advertised, none of this "oh it could work" nonsense for months at a time.

Well if it works on 350z's, there's a very good chance it'll work on 2k2's, and just as good a chance that it'll work just as good on a 95-01 ECU. So maybe the 00-01 guys will finally be able to take advantage of higher rev limits, and be out to kick our @sses

IIRC there is a TS ECU out for the 2K1s, but not for the 2Ks.

But the EU would be the better option when its up and running.

I figured you'd just say "si" again. lol.

Testing... on your Max or the "other project"... which is what btw?

You guys won't have to wait months to see. My Eu should get here on Wed next week, install on the weekend if all goes as planned.

Excellent, we will be watching

Any rumors on the rev limiter cut?
