somebody please make some sub-frame connectors!!!!
somebody please make some sub-frame connectors!!!!
i know that there are some of you guys out there that are in the fabrication field.. people have been waiting for these connectors from warpspeed for almost a year now. warpspeed has definately dropped the ball on this one. after MONTHS of " they'll be ready in about 2 weeks " , they have finally broken down and said " we dont know ".. ive personally been calling them since january waiting for these. enough is enough.. SOME BODY PLEASE COPY THERE OLD DESIGN AND GET THESE DEADBEATS OUT OF THE PICTURE. get a group deal going or something.. within a week a bet you can get at least 10 people to buy a set.. f-ck the stage 2 design.. just make the stage 1...
Well, I went through about a solid month of "it will be ready in a week".
My installer decided to redo some of the welds where the square plates attach to the rail tube. They wasn't any powder coating on the rail tube, but it wasn't a big deal since I had undercoating applied to the rail after the installation.
Once it was all put together, it really does make a big difference in the handling.
A friend of mine got subframe connectors for his '04 Mustang Cobra. His were fabricated in a 2-inch square-box style rather than a tubular style. I think his seam welded down the entire length. I was jealous because his looked a lot nicer out of the box -- a lot more confidence inspiring.

If you can find my old car in the junkyard you can take them off that car...
I figured WSP had them readily available so I didn't bother to remove them before they hauled the car away. Would have been alot of work but not as much work as making my own since WSP apparently doesn't make them anymore

My suspension is the following:
KYB AGX. settings at 2:4 for front:rear.
Eibach Prokit.
Eibach camber bolts.
Kosei K1-Racing 16x7.5" with Kumho Ecsta 25/55/16
Stillen front and rear strut tower bars.
Stillen rear stabilizer bar.
Blemco Stage II Lower Tie Bar
Warpspeed Stage-1 subframe connectors.
Camber alignment = around -1 degree.
Toe alignment = not sure. I suspect I have a moderate amount of toe-out but my tire wear still looks o.k.
I noticed that the handling responsiveness of the car improved significantly after the Warpspeed subframe installation. Also car had noticeably less squat and dive and mildly less body roll. As for ride quality, the harder ruts and railroad tracks were not as harsh of an impact after the installation. Seems like there is somewhat less noise resonating from under the floor over the harder bumps. Steering responsiveness improved with the subframes also. What was also apparent was the reduced bounciness on the highway. Around here we have a lot of bumps and dips at the concrete expansion joints. The subframe connectors didn't eliminate but still settled down the vertical oscillations.
On scale of 1 to 10 on ride quality:
Before = 5
After = 7
I got the Blehmco Stage-II bar about a month later to use in combination with the Warpspeed units. With that I noticed some sharper steering response in regular driving even more than what the Warpspeed bars added. When pushed hard in a turn, the front end feels a lot more composed and confident and responsive to steering input. I don't think that the Blemco bar increases the ultimate speed capability in the turns, but it allows the driver to get closer to the handling limit without feeling vague and unpredictable. So given that, I think a driver would feel like he could push the car faster than they normally would without the tie-bar.
As for the actual smoothness of the ride, I don't feel that the Blemco bar had any effect either positive or negative. They are strictly for handling improvement in the turns. At first I just wanted to get a Stage-1 bar but they were out of stock so I got a Stage-II instead. I'm glad I went with the Stage-II.
Ultimately, I think the result is greater than the sum of the parts. Meaning that I think the Warpspeed subframes and the Blemco Tie bar complement each other very well. I can't say for sure if all my comments on the Blemco Tie bar would apply if I did not also have the warpspeed subframe connectors.
I may eventually go for the Stage-II subframes and may do some pre-emptive work on the various bushings and ball joints in the front end, since I have about 140K miles.
i wanted just a price from them, i emailed but i found out several weeks later no one at warpspeed checks the email.
and it takes along time to fabricate them, not to mention they probably get more sales for other things, not to mention the subframes are probably so backed up with people wanting them that you probably wont see yours even when they start getting some stock.
i want some too, and the new ones are suppose to be better for removing (ie for mechanic work to be done - or so i hear). which would be nice. i would like to do this myself but i dont know the first thing about keeping things light and strong etc etc etc. i just know how to weld, not design.

i will have to take it upon myself to goto a fabrication shop out here with a picture of the warpspeed ones and see what kind of price they give me. im so fed up with warpspeed for the obvious lies. they even went as far as to start taking orders and collect credit card infomation from people when they were obviously nowhere near completion. i would have loved for them to have billed people...
When I drove down to Maxus I stopped by Warpspeed and had the new prototype set put on my car, as well as some exhaust work done on my car. This was back in June, as to why they are not ready...
I would have to say it was totally worth it and Dallas always answered my phone calls and emails. Regardless the extra drive and wait were worth it, my car handles like a real performance car now. Ive had other people drive my car and Ive gotten nothing but compliments on it's handling. When I work on other Maximas I hate driving them without SFCs, those Maximas feel like there gonna fall apart from chassis flex...
