I think all batteries are heavy, I just changed from interstate to optima, they seem to weigh the same.

Weight is a function inversly proportionate to cranking power... (rule of thumb here not wanting to argue with you engineers) the more lead plates in the battery the more weight the more cranking power...I would think a light weight battery would mean less cranking power, which would be OK in less harsh climes,,,This excludes perhaps some of these new high tech batteries now on the market,, I know nothing of them, Saw my first one at advance auto parts a couple of weeks ago while buying a new battery for my 96 I30,,, they looked like linked cells.,and were costly,Over $100

how about the smaller more lightweight because their smaller batteries? anyone have any links to buy these? and not only that but info on them? i need more room and a lighter battery, but i dont want to really suffer later.

i was also thinking about having a small one up front, and when i put the two sub's in my trunk, to also put a spare battery or wire one into the trunk.

OK. If you look up oddyssey (noy sure if thats how its spelled) those batteries are like a 1/4 of the size of a normal battery, and weigh about 75% less. Also they are tested and are proven to last longer than any other battery even Optima...

You know I'll probably get flamed for this but I have had no problems with Kirkland batteries and I was surprised when I picked one up. I didn't have a different one to compare it with really but it's been working flawlees with all the gadgets and whatchamawhirlies. It's not very pretty in under hood pics though. Big ole gold & red lol.

9-volt will offer mad weight reduction Yo.....

Consider moving the battery to the trunk for more room/weight distribution

I was at the CM meet yesterday. Saw a Altima, or maybe a Sentra, I don't quite remember, but he had a small motor cycle battery under the hood. It was only about 5" x 8". I asked him if it gave him enough power to crank over the car during cold morning, and he told me he had no issues as of yet. That's a 40lb weight reduction right there.
