What does the Q in vq30de stand for?

V= V style motor
Q = ?
30 = motor size in decaliters
D= dohc
E= electronic fuel injection

(T=turbo)
(TT=twin turbo)

what does the Q stand for? Is it how the motor is designed to be mounted? for FWD or RWD?

also what does the G in GXE and GLE stand for?

those letters mean NOTHING. Its just an engine code. A lot of people think that the RB in RB25 means "race breed", which it doesnt. Its just an engine code. the V is not reffering to V6 and the Q isnt reffering to anything either. everything after those how ever mean something.

VQ is an engine family (has no reference to the V design, otherwise why isn't the RB called the IB?)

You also forgot -k for Kaisen (sp?) and DD for Dual Overhead Cam/Direct Injection

just because we dont kow what it means it doesnt mean that it has no meaning. engine codes mean something but we just might not be given that info
