Stock catback with Y pipe-Sound?

Has anyone experienced this set up first hand? I currently have a wspeed y pipe with a custom resonated 2.25" b pipe to a dynomax super turbo muffler, and am thinking about going back to stock rear section cause the droning is buggin the family. Is the stock cat back much quieter? Does it sound crappy, or just sound stock?

I have a budget y with stock cat-back, and a bad cat. Its almost same as stock... very quiet. Only change to my exhaust tone is at low throttle low RPM's theres a little low rumble... sounds nice tho, but have to listen for it to hear it, otherwise same as stock.

That isn't true or my exhaust is messed up. The first time I started the car with Budget Y and CAI I could tell the difference RIGHT THERE. You WILL hear the Budget Y grumble at low RPM. Also someone told me I blew out my packing. When I get up to about 4.5 RPM is sounds like someone ran over a mouse and turned on a chainsaw at the sametime. I don't regret is ... i love the power. I am thinking about getting an APEXi Catback for the few ponies. I am going to hate the sound soooo bad.

Does it sound bad or is it just loud?

All the videos I've seen of hybrid intakes with Y pipes sound like the Maxima came with a v8.

Your current setup does sound amazing though!

I think Bobo has a Budget ypipe/stock exhaust. I've asked him about it and I seem to remember him saying its fairly quiet with a bit of a roar at WOT.

i think my maxima has a v8 or an exaust leak :P
i have a K&N stillen hiflow and the custommaxima.com y-pipe, and the stillen exaust.
thats a bad combination!
the hiflow makes alot of noise with everything stock, but the stillen exaust is really makes things more loud, then i put the y-pipe on and now we are v8 maxima!

why dont you just put a resonator on your pipe?
ok for the noob, what is a resonator, where to buy one, and how to install it? as much and as detailed as possible! i dont think the stillen came with one and im really annoyed :P

a resonator is a pipe that is bigger which should be in your b-pipe...kinda looks like a long bubble. the bgiger the resonator, the quieter it is.

i have a budget Y and stock exhaust. i couldn't really tell the difference when i first purchased the pipe, but i think the packing in my cat is progressively blown out. its still fairly quiet... with my auto, its especially noticeable if the transmission decides to pull away from a stop sign in 2nd gear, then under constant load around 2k rpm you can hear really the drone. its not a "nice" sound, i'd say it sounds comparable to a gm 3800 v6 in a pontiac grand prix but not as loud. not a great sound but sportier than stock.
