Another MAF Question...
Another MAF Question...
Does the maf seem to act up more when the car is under hard acceleration & when its hotter outside than normal - like over 95-100 outside?? I just put on a monsterflow filter and I want to hear it - trouble is - when I romp on it (just here and there) its bogging. The car did this last year when I got it but didn't do it during the winter...
Maybe the Maf was damaged during intake installation. I Hear they are very susceptable to vibrations - anyway, my car used to bog, then i replaced the Maf. yummy. Try higher octane gas - the bogging could be timing pull as a result of using ****ty gas - i got my sunoco guy to give me 94 octane and charge for 87 octane on my company gas card : )) lucky me. anyway she loves the 94 .
so if there are other symptoms, like idle problem along with the bogging - it's the maf possibly - if not - the car is prolly running richer to prevent detonation- either from hot-less dense air or just ****ty gas - maybe get an obd2 scanner and see what the 02 sensors and timing tells you.

Yeah, my '02 got a similar symptom. In cooler days (60s and below), my Max runs like a champ. In temps above 70, during hard acceleration, it surges, it is not smooth at all. Actually it seems to surge during acceleration all the time but it is just more noticeable when it is hot outside. BTW, no CEL ever, I'm running factory air box, have never installed an aftermarket intake and have always used paper filters (Nissan, Purolator, Wix). This is my second MAF. The original MAF was replaced with a AM600 when the "Lack of Acceleration" TSB was performed. I have also cleaned it electrical circuit cleaner with no much change in performance.
Did it used to happen before your installation? If not, doublecheck you installation for air leaks. It could also be sucking in too much warm air from your engine compartment, which in such case installing a coolbox may help to prevent this.
I should be ordering a MAF soon (a 2001 MAF for sure) to see if it helps.

same wiht my car, it feels 100percent stronger when driving at night and then during the day it feels like a 4 cyl. night is still slow tho, i'm hoping it's my MAF. i have an 01 maf in my 2000 max.
ive got the same problem. when i installed my monterflow filter along with my cattman intake i got the bogging you guys are referring to. I changed out my MAF and nothing changed. is it and instant change or does it have to acustom itself?? also my vacuum lines werent hooked up right and i just finished hooking them up right tonight and its still gay.
