maxx engines

what engines will fit an 87 max?? thinkin bout putting the 300z turbo or a newer engine in, maybe like a 96

So i gots a question. I was at the jnkyard all day long yesterday and i pulled a turbo off of an 84 300zx coes to find out the turbo is water cooled and oil cooled could i just ditch the oil lines or is it there for lubrication? also is there a connection that the oil lines connect to and all i have to do is make a feed tube to the oil pan wouldnt the 84 zx oil pan work looks identical as heck (bolts in the wrong place?) btw i think that im gonna also get the plentium because it has the boost controol module to make shure that i dont go over stock boost until later when i get the "internal stuff" done thanks.

Because it's a Ford is not a good reason....what is the point of putting a 5.0 in a 2nd gen?

Well if it could be made then it would be pretty cool, they are cheap, easy to mod so why not, they also sound pretty badass.

itsa good reason when your name is "stangGT"...the only real engine swap i could see useful in these cars would be a 3.3L VG possibly DOHC if you can get it to fit

Here's the problem I see. The 5.0 is a pretty damn heavy motor, while sure you might be making more power, you've made a car with already poor weight distribution much worst. I dunno about you, but I want a car that I can turn the wheel and not worry about my rear end getting in front of me. If you're going to swap something with more power why not swap in a VQ? Not only is it lighter, 300hp at the wheels is a couple bolt-ons away. With a 5.0, while there are plenty of mods, how many of the mods would make sense with it mounted transversly? I guess what I'm saying is that sure you can probably do a 5.0.....but its just not practical. Besides, I rather have a car that isn't a one trick pony.

Oh Niku, I myself rather see a VK45DE or VK45DETT in a 280z or 240z myself.

Well, it's common knowledge that the Ford 5.0 and the Nissan VG share EXACTLY the same motor mounts, and the ECU is plug and play.

I think Stillen even makes a conversion kit.

eh, 240's are hard to come by, best left stock, worth more as so too...
i cant find a decent shape 280 any more ho hum

Whatever man....if I had the money and time, I'd still do it. There is a guy that did it in Japan, and all I can say is wow. The car is pretty, even the tig welds are pretty. Definately worth something despite what you say for sure.

Yes it is. The 240/Fairlazy Z is pretty distinguishable. Don't know how you could mix it up with any other car.

talked to some on today that had both a 240 and a roadster...also may have found a new front manifold off a display peice at the dealership too....figured since it showed wear and its the same motor as mine they might want to point out cracked manifolds on older cars....woah way off track...sorry

from behind i get the 240,260,280 mixed up if i cant see the badge's

I can tell very easy. 240 and early 260's have the same front end with the turn signals under the bumper. 260 and 280's have the same rear end lights. Later 260's and 280's has the turn signals in the grill. 280's had bigger bumpers. 260 and 280's had the 2+2 option. 240 made 150hp, 260 made 120hp, and 280 made 140hp.

ewwwww verry nasty....a sleeper in deed but come to cali for somo dose we got some in the yards. might even find a 240 if your lucky.
