Is this worth the money? I am thinking about having it professionally done not just using the bottle of cleaner you pour into your gas tank.

 

I had mine professionally done and I could really tell the difference. The response was much better and all.

 

Try spraying some carb cleaner into your intake, around your throttle body, etc. You'll probably notice a difference.

 

I had a fuel induction system cleanup done on my max, very notable difference. worth the $$ IMO

 

I have a 2006 Maxima with about 53K miles and my car is with the dealer. They contacted me about having my fuel induction system cleaned. They said it was needed and would cost me about $225....is it really worth it and I am almost certain to get it done elsewhere at a fraction of the cost

 

Just be careful with a 2002 and newer. You mess with the throttle plate while the engine is off and you risk ruining your drive-by-wire throttle body.

I noticed a difference when I had it done to an Accord I used to have, car felt more responsive. Most lube shops do the service for around $60 or so.

 

It is worth the money. I went to Nissan and paid $175 to have it done and I noticed some performance improvements. My car switches gears seamlessly, instead of it jerking before getting into gear. Second, the acceleration has improved.

 

If you go the do-it-yourself route make sure you use intake cleaner that is oxygen sensor safe or you could trash the o2 sensors. CRC makes this type of intake cleaner along with some others. The intake cleaner along with a bottle of Chevron Techron (make sure you use only Techron) might be a good way to see what results you get before you spend $100 - $200.

 

i heard valvoline if you have any in your area has a 3 part fuel system cleaning. i beleive its just under 70 bucks. might wana give that a try.

 

is this the same thing as motor vaccing?

if so, i just got it done, seems to rob power and makes ur car smell funny for a few days, then its better than ever

i have had it done to our murano with the BG products offered at the local dealership...very big difference in response. plan on using the same service on my new max when it is due.

 

DIY. Get a can of sea-foam and run it through a vac. line.

That's what I say, I used Seafoam, and CRC MAF Cleaner, and I noticed a huge difference, it wasn't the first time I've used Seafoam, but the first time my MAF was cleaned in 127k miles... VERY Noticable difference...

 

Worth it, just try to find a good shop and avoid the dealership. It will be way cheaper.

 

Aside from spraying the throttle body with carb cleaner and scrubbing it, I have used Techron concentrate without any problems.

Dito ,use Techron twice a year , never needed the dealer cleaning service.

Can you haggle the price with some of these dealerships?

 

Take a bottle of Sea Foam and with car running take off the hose that runs from brake booster to the intake and stick it in the can of sea foam and have some one inside the car to keep it running for a few secounds while it sucks some more out of the can and let it die. Let it sit for like 20 mins. and fire it up watch all your carbon blow out. Dump some in your tank when you fill up too. It smokes real bad but it will clean that bad boy out.

 

I know this this thread is quite dated but what they hey...I just had the BG fuel/air induction service done at a local shop for $129 and its definitely worth the money. much better response time and my car idles so much better, havent had a chance to get on the highway yet but its def a must. The amount of smoke from the carbon build up coming from my exhaust was insane lol she breathes a lot better now.
