How much more timing with step colder plugs?

I have 1 step colder NGKs. Can I safely advance more than 17 degrees? I asked another member but he wasn't sure.

i know, we were on the phone the other night, and forgot to ask him. I asked sloppymax, and he said to be safe I should stay at 17. Which is fine but I wanted to see if I could push the envelope a little. If not then 17 will do, seeing that I'm sitting at 14 I think.

I think that avatar is the ebst I've seen in a while ...

There was someone in a 5th gen(3.0) that advanced it to 20*, and it's 'within' spec (+/- 5*) But still

sr said the highest it will go is 17btdc. the 01 ecu and some 00s will advance up to 20 after the idle air learn procedure but 17 is the maximum for the 5.5th gens.

You know a step colder plug will cause you to lose some power right? Why not run the stock plugs? That would be a better solution than advancing your timing further.

Then he certainly would not need his timing advance running nitrous.

hopefully we still have the ability to use the consult 2 at our leisure which would be easy to plug up and change timing. beats changing plugs anyday.
