Cattman Fast Cat question.

I just got my Cattman Fast-Cat for a 2000 Max.

Does it matter what dircetion it goes?

I know the heatsheild goes up but the canister is offset .
I'm not sure it should favor the front or back.

Thanks, Mike

ps. the quality of this thing is great.
3/8 thick flanges, good quality Stainless and great welding.
It looks like a test pipe with a bubble in it (some kind of honeycomb filter)

the custom maxima and warpspeed performance cat's will still allow you to pass right? they aren't test pipes, supposedly just better flowing cat's.

So in New York they don't go by the sniffer or anything, they just run a code reader on your ECU to see if they pull anything up? Where do I sign up for this kind of smog certification in California!?!?!?!?

I was told that this is a high flow cat and will pass bith visual and smog test as long as there are no other problems.
It has a canister with the honeycomb stuff in it.

as long as it is a true cat and not just a test/racing pipe then you will be fine. the problem comes with fed spec 2000s put a test pipe in and they have an o2 sensor behind it that detects it is missing.

I have a 2000 Cali-spec and it is a true Cat.

It kinda looks like this but much thicker SS and with flanges.
It'a also a direct fit no a universal. The flanges are rotated like the OE.

I've got the Cattman Fastcat. You should install it with the offset narrow end towards the y-pipe, with the heatshield facing down. This is so you dont light grass or something on fire...You will have a break-in period where you will hear the cat "clicking" for a few weeks at times.

I am pretty happy w/it, its going to be slightly louder than stock, especially because it's directly under the front seats. Also, while the cat itself is stainless, the flanges are not and do rust. I suggest using stainless bolts if they did not come with your cat...All in all though, it's a pretty good product.

I bought one and put it on about a month ago. Direction doesn't matter. BTW: it helped a little, but I think most of the kick i got was from the 17 degree timing advance in my 3.5. I replaced my cat because I killed the stocker. Bad kitty. Bad, bad kitty...

^^^Yup. That's what Brian told me too about installing it. Months later, my Cattman Fastcat "clicks" when I turn the car off. I suppose it's from the cooling of the hot pipes. (expanding/contracting) After 5 minutes, it goes away.
