ive read post about switching to redline d4 atf. but what are the real benefits of doing this? is it worth $9 a quart? i was going to buy some mobil 1 atf, cuz at the mobil gas station its only 3 bucks a quart. which isnt too bad. has anyone gone to the track and gotten improved times just by switching atf? how about some butt dynos?

is everyone switching just cuz everyone else is doing it?....i dont want redlineoil.com stats..i want real life everyday driving facts....

The reason why Redline costs 9 bucks and the Mobil 1 costs 3 was because Redline is synthetic. Mobil 1 sells synthetic which is on par with redline. If you are to change it, change it to whatever brand you want, but make sure its synthetic. 100% synthetic!

As for improving times, I don't know. It helps protect the trnasmission. But after changing mine, I felt the car shifted alot smoother and quicker. Go figure.

It's synthetic that's why.

Synthetic ATF will last 2X longer than dino oil and less prone to breakdown at high temp. Mobil 1 ATF for $3 qt is a really good price. They do usually go for $5 a quart. I had my first flush at 20K mile with Redline D4 ATF. I just recently flushed it again (45k) with Mobil 1. I couldn't tell any difference between the two. I would just go with Mobil 1 because it's cheaper and more readily available. I would flush the ATF every 30k if you drive hard and want your auto tranny to last more than 100K.

Re: 1max2nv

Flush is a must. Drain and fill is not good enough IMHO.

I get my flush done at

Drain the entire thing ? i'm not gonna do it ...
I must say the synthetic holds up real good to the pounding i put on the tranny
