Having a problem reset the computer.

I disconnected the battery for 24 hours, the negative part.
Come back and my check engine light is still on.

Any suggestions? Is there any simplier methods other then driving to autozone and waiting for the guy for 2 hours so he can delete the code.

thanks
Gene

Your answers is in the FAQ's on the top of the page. I scrolled down like 15 lines and found the answer. Can we lock this thread as this should answer his question.

you're absolutely right as i just realized you have a 2k and i assumed 2k-2k3 had the same procedures. i just reset my light earlier this week on my 2k2 and i followed these procedures. i don't believe it hurts to try. it's hard to follow because it has to be timed exactly, but again, it wouldn't hurt to try.

edit: i need to add this disclaimer as i do recall someone doing this once. when it says put it in the on position, it does NOT mean to turn it on. just means dont' start, but set it in the on position. someone once turned it on and let the car rev for 7 seconds fully. imagine how dumb they felt.

The reset procedure for 2k2/2k3 will not work for 2k/2k1.

if the light comes back on after the reset then the condition for which it came on has not been addressed/fixed. what code were you receiving and what fix did you perform for it?

umm, yeah... you need to fix the problem before the light will go out.

if theres a little green man holding the elevator on the top floor, the greem man needs to be removed before the elevator will come down... it doesnt matter how many times, or how fast you push the 'up' button.

lets fix the problems, not the symptoms
