2002 se maxima vs lexus sc 2005
So i was going up against this lexus convertible. I weight 280 and the other guy had himself and another in his car probably weighing 180 each. He had about 1 car length on me the whole way. How fast is that car? I thought that car was a v-8, pretty slow to me. I think it was a auto too. Should i have been beaten by more?

I drive an SC430 often (brother has one). First off: HP is 288, not 300. Torque is 317, not 325. All specs on the car were downgraded with new SAE standards.
That said, stock for stock, only a 6-spd Maxi will be able to stand with the car. It's a quick car, but too heavy because of the 700lb hardtop. Remove the hardtop and you've got a car that'll run with an M3.

Is the SC430 the same as the GS430? Maybe they're labelled differently in New Zealand.
They are nice cars but they only get 276bhp/206kW and 305ft-lbs/415Nm in their NZ spec (typical - we get everything downgraded...except 4th-gen Maximas thank goodness) and are good for 6.5s here (5-speed manual-automatic I think they call it).
My wife's uncle in Sydney has the 3.0 (or 3.5 litre - not sure what it was exactly) version and it goes real well (248bhp/185kW) - very similar in size and driving dynamics to a Maxima but just much more luxurious inside so probably a lot heavier.

Can't say I've ever seen one here in NZ - we only have the GS sedans and those silly IS200's that are called 'Atezzas' here and everyone has one...

Right - so back on topic, who's going to win between the 6-speed 2k2 Max and the Toyota Camry with glad rags on and steroids?
My money (virutal bet of $100) is on the Maxima, unless the Roided Camry is also a manual...
